Same as 90% out there. People are happy with them. You will like it.

It reminds me of the B&M.. The B&M shifter is just a little to extreme for my liking , I'm looking for somthing just a LITTLE more mild BUT I DON'T WANT CHEAP CRAP. I don't mind spending $200 for a good shifter , I just don't prefer the B&M's extremly small throw. I'm looking for something VERY close to it though

Well, just hack your stock shifter. I paid 175 for my used C's shifter, which an awesome one too.

pilot c's that one, are all the same basic design, I'd personally go with the b+m but I had that style for a while and while I wouldn't say really pleased with it, it didn't displease me either.

Rare short shifter made by Tomei. Very high quality and will not pop out of gear. Comes with all parts necessary for installation. $190 and I will install for you.

the b+m is still the nicest in that it doesn't use the plate washers at all. it completely replaces that upper plate.

I got a C's for $140 used here on zilvia a while ago. I got the old school type to which I think is a better design. Perfect street shifter IMO

agreed.

not to mention, its just awesome.

only girls complain about it being "notchy" -- much like girls complain about driving cars without power steering, etc etc etc

If you're talking about the shifter height, some knobs allow you to adjust the height.

how much is that and does it work for the ka, on other forums people were having trouble putting sr shifters on to ka trans

nismo2491
11-21-2004, 08:52 PM
uhhh they are exactly the same trans except for bellhousing so they shouldn't be having problems. and the shifter goes into the tailshaft so thee shifters are 100% interchangeable.

Those people were stupid, the KA and SR shifter is the same, P/N for the B&M on one is the SAME as the other.

also like i said on the other thread, when i went to super autobacs in japan, the guy called monkey magic because i wanted the shifter from them on my ka, but monkey magic told them that it wont work on the ka trans.

nismo2491
11-21-2004, 09:03 PM
well apparently the guy from monkey magic doesn't know what he's talking about. everything after the bellhousing (centercase, tailshaft) is the same on the ka and sr trans's. minus the s15 6spd of course.

Make sense much?

All short throw shifters are short throw, none of them change the actual height. The Nismo solid shifter is a weighted, heavier shifter that gives a more solid feel, but it's the same height and same throw as OE. No one makes a 'short' height shifter, you can just cut yours down for that if you really need to.

And the Tomei is identical in design to the C's, which are the original examples that OBX and Pilot copied.

Actually, I believe the height of my shifter is a lot shorter than my stock shifter.
http://www.zilvia.net/installs/obxss/12-oemvsobx.jpg
GOt that from the "installs" page.

It looks a bit shorter.

"CA, RB20, KA, SR, VG30E, all the same transmission. Common knowledge."

So let's say you managed to fit a Z32 shifter into a S13 frame/console/shifter area whatever, it would work? I like the Z32 shifter (Think its a lot shorter stick) and if that could work well, maybe it'd be cheaper to get a Z32 shifter from a junkyard. Sorry if I sound like an idiot, I don't know about this stuff.

Edit: Unless by VG30E you meant Z31s (do they only have single cams?)

That does make a lot of sense.. I'll look into that.

I've got some free time in the next few days, maybe I'll take the shifter out of my dad's Z32 and see if it can work at all in the 240.

AAAawww fuck it! I'm going to go ahead and get the B&M

I got an OBX shifter over 3 years ago.... it went in 3 different engines and is STILL not broken/seperated.

I guess you get what you pay for... however, I never regretted getting an 80$ shifter.

i have the C's type shifter, paid $55 shipped off ebay. I followed the tips in zilvia's install page and i've had no problems ever. doesn't rattle at high rpm either. :)

I thought obx fixed the problem w/ them braking. I thought it was only like the first gen. shifters that had the problem.

Of course I meant Z31 (and S12). When did the Z32 come with a SOHC? It didn't. The Z32 shifter is a completely different design, no way it could ever work.

Ya, I didn't know if you reffering to all the VG engines or just the single cam. Well, there's my answer.

blu808 - why you figure that? it looks exactly the same as my pilot short shifter did when I had that, just that this one has the top plate a tad different.

also the short shifter looks about 1/2inch shorter but remember it then has that spacer that raises it 1/2 inch. my short shifter after install was at the same height.
