i could care less for the ouside of the car, but i must admit.. i see some interesting things in the engine bay that i kinda like..
props on the engine work, seems interesting.

Thanks guys. I dont really care about how it looks either. Trust me. The car is flogged within an inch of its life every track day. We will be doing the fd season and wdc season next year. Look for it. Also it looks much better now. Also it will look clean once everything is painted..

are those extra braces in the engine bay just for holding togethor the front end or do they actually add substantial stiffness to the chasis?
edit: ok I didn't see the missing wheelwells. real cute of me.

Dear god, what wer eyou welding with? stick? looks like a setup that is meant to be flogged the hell out of, very nice. i was doing the same thing with the tubing in the front of the s14, only slightly different, i wonder if it makes a noticable difference. good stuff, ill see you in atlanta then ;)

Those welds were done with a mig that had run out of gas. We will be rewelding it this weekend. There is also a tube going across the front infront of the radiator.
It has stiffened the chassis like crazy. There is also gussets behind the fenders welded on.
The wing actually looks good on the car in person, and it should look ok when painted.
Thats not an attempt at a fake blacktop. that is a ceramic coating, the same was done to the block, head, intake manifold, tubo, turbo manifold.
Thanks for the props people.

Eh. That car is stupid. :jerkit:
Sell it to me for 50 cents. I might buy it then.

i will regulate who is from the south and arkansas makes it, barley. i had to research that because i wasnt sure. you are admitted to sleeping with family, extreme amounts of alcohol, loving nascar, being a racist dumb biggot, having a mullet, hating gays, posessing a raised truck, and saying get ur dun along with many other stupid privilages. how many ape hours were put into the...bracing i suppose is what i would call it? also is this car still going be street driven? and are you weary of any possible side effects come accident or do you believe this has actually improved slightly?

11-22-2004, 08:43 PM
idunno but your engine bay is gonna cuss you out if you drive that sucker in the rain.
uhh...it's a track car...i think it'll be fine...
that's SICK the way you gutted the fenders though...anyways i've never seen anything like that before...very cool
i'm interested in doing some chassis strengthening like that (after my accident i've been paranoid)
will that do anythign bad if you crash head on? or will it actually be stronger?

Not sure exactly where the crunch areas are on the 240sx up front but if they are in front of the wheel well any front end collision would most likely be worse.

well its only a track car, so im not too concerned about it. We removed an excess amount of material because it is super easy to change the suspension settings at the track. As for rigidity. My dad is a structural engineer, we put the front frame area onto autocad, and with these points braced it showed almost 170% increase in stiffness from lateral, and longitudinal flex. As for the front bumper support being removed, there is a 1.5" od .0825" thickness piece of tubing in front of the radiator, going from frame rail to frame rail.
I will also post a pic of the fender bracing, and seam welding. after these few. Keep in mind the car is not finished, and it will be nice and clean when it is.

Yo luke, great to hear that you got out of those charges.
Where did you get the Evo wing??? and how much was it????
blu808
11-23-2004, 09:44 PM
Thanks.
I got the evo wing off of my evo. So i guess it either cost me 32 grand, or it was free depending on how you look at it.
hey luke, just wondering but how exact are those structural braces? and i missed it if you answered before, but how will those engine bay braces effect the front end in a crash?

Im not too sure what you are refering to by how exact. They are very even on both sides though.
I would really think this would help out alot in a crash, due to the fact that the whole chassis is tied to these tubes, The only detriment would be from not having the stock bumper support in place.
your not allowed to say get ur dun, your not from the south.
IF you wanna get literal, neither are you :) You're from florida, not even close to being "the south"
the south is all of alabama, mississippi, louisiana, arkansas, texas and southern georgia... florida is not included; its more of a eastern california; cept maybe the far northern parts of it on the georgia and alabama southern borders... being from the south doesnt mean you like nascar or are a racist either... thats getting a little too specific... maybe 30 years ago?
hehe... I laughed once when this guy from Miami said he was from the south... rofl

there is less of a crumple zone now, because the front end is a lot stronger than stock.
