24 years in development... and probly another 10 more.

Pretty cool stuff though. To bad it probably weights about 100lbs each. :eek3d:

yeh its really high off the ground but it looks cool how it has no body roll. but the confort part imo i like the bumpyness. o also wen they did the test on comfort they put the tire on a huge bump and it compressed real good, but how well would the bose suspension work on small bumps but continuous amounts of small bumps.

doesnt seem ideal for people interested in performance.

1) i am sure its not light, as in unsprung weight
2) vague feeling of road isnt happening

i mean, part of being a good driver is feeling everything you're driving on. last thing i want to do is fly over bumpy or wet roads.

the engineers who created this system are the same who thought of power steering as if its a good thing, again.. in terms of performance. there's nothing wrong with power steering, but i know for sure i love NOT having it when i am flying on dry roads and all of a sudden i run over a puddle of water that i didnt see, or sand.. and you feel the front end quirk out BEFORE the back. to me, this quick reaction time of feeling the front tires means the back end doesnt come out, which means my car is still on the road and i have a small amount of time to compensate.

i dont like this, but i think its cool if you drive a VIP car where performance isnt a huge concern. excessive engineering, much like you'll find in the newest BMW and Mercedes. congrats bose!

I have a magazine I got a couple months ago with that in it. It would probably do well in a luxury car or something like a SUV. I don't see it coming to sports cars though.

yeh wat he said, i like the feeling of no power steering while moving, id rather have it wen im not moivng tho. my dads 65 mustang makes me have cramps the next day if im trying to just move the tires side to side trying to get on a alignment rack, but my moms matrix, it has power steering while still and once ur moving the power steering shuts off, and it feels real good having a more rigit steering wheel. it feels like u have more control over it.

i should look into picking up the electronically controlled honda s2k or nsx rack and adapting it to my car, then i can turn the fucker on and off whenever i desire.

i mean honestly, i have no problem moving the car as long as i can roll even ONE inch of movement. the problem occurs when i have to park in an absolutely tight spot parallel parking style, but i dont care.. because now i just dont bother with that. why shoe-horn my car into a spot, that just means someone is going to kiss my bumpers and leave a license plate hickey.. fuck that, i just look for a better spot. i am sure people with fiberglas bumpers REALLY should worry, because they end up with a cracked bumper if anyone "bumps" them while parking in tight spaces... so.

i like not having power steering but it does have advantages sometime. are there any non power steering racks that came a on 240sx or any other car that can be adapted that maybe have easier movement?

Do all my threads turn into "I like No Power Steering Because" thread?

That's an amazing application of technology. Bose was really "thinking outside the box" on that one. It seems that the suspension can go from super luxury soft to bar-o-steel stiff as fast as the electronics can process information, really giving it the best of both worlds.

Personally, I would be skeptical of buying it, there will definitely be some technology premium charged for this option on whatever car, and I am sure you can get around 80% of the performance for much, much, cheaper. Also, It seems to me that if there is some HUGE electromagnetic force in your wheel wells, it will tend to pick up all sorts of metallic road debris, creating wear problems with suspension/brakes/wheels. The other thing is... anyone have any experience with those old OEM Bose amplified speaker systems? My friend's Legend had those, and after a while they started to fade/crackle/not work. I would really hate to be driving my car 10 years down the road and have the right front suspension go full soft and bottom out suddenly, or even worse default to full hard and cause brutal understeer at the worst possible moment.

I am sure Bose has addressed some of these things during testing though...

If you combined this with Mercedes active camber, you could have one pretty trick suspension.

bose has always found its niche and served its purpose.. i cant talk bad about them, i just think they are clever at what they do.

what do they do? they make very stylish and compact stereo systems and speaker components that give you more sound than a boombox, but not nearly enough to properly compete with ANY high end component system. the result? a stereo system for the married man who does not have the balls to fill his living room with a BADASSED stereo system.

example.

american man with small testicles, needs to argue with wife to buy the V6 model of the honda accord or camry... wow, what a power struggle! when he gets home, he has to argue about getting a stereo system that will be able to out-do the gardener AND still be stylish. the solution? BOSE.

now, lets move on to the REAL man, the man who knows he has testicles and reminds his wife that he is the man every time he gives her a fuckin insane orgasm after giving her the LD (long dick, for those of you who dont know the initials). okay, he wants a car? who cares how many kids he has, he's not the one driving the mini-van, the wife is. so what does he buy? doesnt matter, it can be a porsche or a jet-engine powered rocket car, he'll get whatever the fuck he wants because he pays the bills and she should shut the fuck up. what stereo system will he buy? the one that is loud enough to mute out his wife's incessant talking. (note, no stereo will ever out-do a woman's nagging, but atleast it'll be able to drone it out.

haha damn im a bastard.
