97 Q45 Diff into S14 Questions

Hey all, I know what the 90-96 Q45 Diff takes to install into a S14 but cant seem to find a direct answer for the 97+ ones. I have the chance to pick up the whole rear end of a 97 for 200$ And would like to capitalize on it. Any help is appreciated!

Why not just go for the 350z diff? Gktech sells the parts to bolt it to the car.

Don't even waste the time researching it, you can buy an entire '97 q45 for $200 lol seriously, pass on it. Good luck

97+ is direct bolt it as far as pumpkin I believe, might need j30 axles. The 96 and older requires the use of 6X1 flanges for larger axles.

I put the 3.69 ratio Q45 diff in my car using J30 axles (as mentioned above) they are 5-bolt species.

Then I put the 3.5 ratio Q45 diff (older, 93?) in the same car but it took 6-bolt axles (one from Q45 and one from 300ZX) iirc

As already said.
‘97+ Q45 diff —> 3.69 ratio, Needs J30 5-bolt axles to swap into S13/S14 (S14 VLSD axles work as well? —> Not familiar though)
Pre-‘97 Q45 diff —> 3.54 ratio, Needs a mix of Q45/300ZX TT 6x1 bolt axles to bolt into S13/S14 provided you ASLO have 300ZX TT hubs

All Q45 diffs come with thicker pinion and ring gear.

Weak point of R200 diffs starts with axles, then toss up between pinion/snout and ultimately axle stubs.

NOTHING can be done about the stubs. Material selection is limited/expensive/bandaid.


If you outgrow R200 —> My opinion is go Ford 8.8 and Driveshaft shop.
