Whats up my dudes?
So new guy here, but I have a quick question that I hope someone could point me in the right direction on.
So I'm currently building out my '98 240sx. So far a fairly simple build. Mostly, its just the ISR turbo kit that Enjuku sells.
When I started digging into the car I'm starting to think this car started life as an automatic. Im sure im throwing codes but the CEL light has been removed. I have decided to go with Nistune for the management.
The biggest question i have right now is, is the ECU I have for an automatic car? If so do I need to find a manual ECU before I have it socketed for Nistune?

Only reference to that part number I could find said it was for a 98 240sx SE (AT).

Well that puts me at least in the right direction. I could probably just contact Nistune for the 2nd half of my question.

Auto / manual ecu doesn't matter but I spoke with a solid tuner and he stated that on the S14 ECU the tune will "walk". He recommended a full standalone or atleast Nismotromic.

So you're like the 4th person who has told me to look into nismotronics. I definitely need to expand my research.
Any explanation on what he means by "walk"?

Imagine your tuner "tunes" your car on Nistune S14 OBD1/2. The ecu has the capacity to change the tune aka run lean or rich all on it's own. The tuner explained that it has something to do with the preOBD2 setup integrated with the ecu.
PLUS, Nistune offers ZERO fail safe.

Ok, I follow you now. That makes a lot of sense.

This is going to sound overly broad. But it there a general preference for something like haltech or ecu masters?
edit: as I dig deeper the options seem endless hahah.

I have a manual swapped KA24DE with the ISR turbo and Nistune tuning keeping the automatic ecu and it works fine. If you can afford it I would probably go standalone though. Although for low boost on this turbo it's more than enough to manage the tuning.
