Hello all. I'm working on a friend of mines 240sx, it's idling way high...
I have the crank timing mark set to 20-21ish... Idle is like 2300 rpms...

Plugged in my modis edge scan tool to figure out what might be causing it to idle so high, it shows the timing is at 45 degrees.... What gives... When I adjust it down to 20 on the scan tool the idle is allot closer. Like 850-900, however when you try to drive it, it feels like it's got about 50 hp. Super sluggish... Doesn't want to get out of it's own way....

Any thoughts. I changed out the dizzy with another one to no avail. I put a new TPS in to no avail... It's set at .46 volts. I just don't understand.......

I also saved the data from the tool, idk if it helps. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2qC0lBLj2Z4

Any help would be wonderful.

I've started pulling the engine apart.... I've got it in my brain that the timing chains are installed incorrectly.... we shall see....

As far as I can tell the timing is correct... mechanically

The timing isn't going to read correctly when it's not at the ideal idle speed. If you set the mechanical timing properly then it must have some sort of vacuum leak or dis-functional idle air valve.
