(This is copied and pasted from my car website/blog, which can be found at www.coldfire07.com/s14. I've got other pictures up there if ya'll would like to check them out.)
It's about time I got an LSD installed. Install was tiring and took a long time, but everything happened as planned.
Getting the differential pumpkin down was already quite a challenge. I had to go buy ratchet wrenches (a welcome addition to the toolbox) or it would have taken forever. The factory Nissan thread locker is insane. Anyways, we managed to get the differential down with aid from the jack well. We opened up the case, got the side seals off, C-clamps, etc, and tore out the insides. Putting the new differential in was a bit tough, but manageable. We then put the differential back on the jack and connected everything back together. The install took about 8 hours including break in and new fluid change, but we took a few breaks and were very cautious.
This differential is pretty loud. That was the first thing I noticed on the way to an empty parking lot. The break-in procedure consists of doing figure 8's for thirty minutes, and then changing the differential oil one more time. I took a test drive, and I can get on the throttle much, much sooner now. I still haven't even come close to pushing it because it's not worth risking hitting a curb. The Texas Drift event is next Sunday anyways.
The car is much more responsive, and the only bad parts include the pretty loud noise, which should get better as I drive hard on it, and the hole it burned in my pocket. I foresee many people telling me my car is broken, don't be one of those fags.
And now, the pictures. Click for 1600x1200.
