it seems awefully flimsy... but would it be safe? my seatbelts are FUBAR, and since i have racing seats ,im thinking i might as well go with harnesses now. but i dont have a cage. will this work for me?

Not sure how strong the actual bar is but it should be fine, but you should still get a cage w/ harness bar. If you are in a position where you need that certain angle of the harness and you have no cage, you could probably die.

its a crap shoot i cant get the pic to enlarge so it is hard to see what it mounts to my harnesses are mounted to the bolt holes that are used for the rear seatbelt mounts

Its a pillar bar, goes where the rear seat belts are mounted to (the top).

I have one. It's strong enough to do it's job as a frame brace. Not strong enough to keep your ass from going thru the windsheld.

im tellin ya, theres a reason why schroth, who makes euro bmw harnesses recommend to mount to rear seatbelt points

theyre also the only dot legal ones.... =]

Please get a schroth IF you get a harness, and if you value your life mount it in the seat belt mounting points. They are there for a reason.

Better yet get another seatbelt. It's very dangerous to rock a harness on the street because you cant see JACK SHIT!

I wouldnt mind it for a c-pillar brace.. its pretty cheap... but i wouldnt mount the harness to it..

I think its made by Megan Racing... maybe Ill check it out for the c-pillar brace, but not as a harness brace.

just get a damn cage if you really want a harness, and use stock restraints on the street.

well i plan on getting a cage, but its not on the top of my priorities list right now. but getting different seatbelts IS, because its killing my battery, there is something wrong with the automatic seatbelts, and they are not working properly. does anyone know which fuse will disable the motor? FSM and chilton dont seem to mention fuse box details.

plus i though i read that the rear seatbelt mount only works with the coupe... dunno why it would matter though...

sounds like you guys have the same opinion as me: dont use the C-pillar bar for a harness lol...

You're damn straight you shouldn't. what the heck is a c-pillar bar for, anyway, besides blocking your vision? Chassis bracing should be focused on making the suspension work better.

For street use the only seatbelt change I'd go with would be canadian/S14 seat belts.

You seem to be missing the main point here.

Do not get harnesses unless you are going to have a roll bar in the car. In the event of a roll-over accident with harnesses, the roof is going to come straight down on your head = instant death. With stock seatbelts in a rollover the roof will push you down/forward, something that can't happen when a 5 point harness is holding you in place.

Also, I hope you're planning on a 5 point harness due to the inherent safety problems in 4 point harnesses.

The only exception to the roll bar rule is a Schroth harness, which mounts to the rear seat belt points and one of the shoulder belts is meant to come undone in an accident, making it act like a stock 3 point.
