Hey, post #1. My car is a '91 240sx XE fastback. It's got like 155k, but I bought it from an old lady who took really good care of it. I picked it up in Oregon for $2800 cash that I got for selling my civic (I know, I used to be a ricer, but oh well, I am matured now, lol) I have all the records since new, including the original receipt from the dealer. It's bone stock, even the 3 month old brakes and struts came straight from the dealer ($900 on reciept) I just lowered it on eibach 1.8" lowering springs on wednesday (I didn't have enough cash for the tokiko struts, but they will go on next month hopefully) they aren't pictured, but I will post them up on sunday when I give the car a good washing. No dings, one tear on the driver seat that is hardly even noticeable. The paint is only 3 years old. The car is super clean, and a good start for me. I have had 5 hondas in the past, and moving up to nissan has opened my eyes, honda sucks......... nuff said. Tell me what you think!

The odometer on the civic said 188k, but the speedo never worked, and it hsot a huge trail of black smoke everywhere I went, so I am asuming it had about 240+k on it. I sold it for $3300, I don't know how, but I did. lol. Go ahead and bash on the civic all you want, I know it was a peice of shit :P .

Wow, that 240 is in awesome condition for a car its age and mileage. I don't know that I've ever seen a stock '91 with such nice paint and body. Defenitely a good car to start modding with, this way you get to spend money on mods instead of fixing up a beat-ass car.

By the way, I think that the guy above is implying that you'll get flamed for this post. I don't exactly see why that would be, though...

Nice find! Looks to be in very good condition. Just dont make it look like that Civic. :P

My car came from an old lady (original owner) too, I paid $3500 for it 3 years ago, it was a 91 SE coupe 5 speed with only 100K miles and very good condition exterior and interior. Garaged its whole life. No dings, dents, rock chips or rust. It had original paint but it was still shiny and no fading. She actually had a hard time letting it go and told me to take care of "Zippy" because she used to "zip" around town in it. :faint:

Yeah, mines got like 10 pin-sized rock chips on the hood and front bumper, but they are soooo small it's damn near impossible to see them. The only way I saw them was when I waxed it, and the wax was sticking to the chips. It's a great car. I'll post some better pic on sunday. It's been lowered since those pictures, and I got a new camera too, so the next ones should pwn those pics. Thanks for the props.

Welcome to Zilvia, Shane_lxi. Here is your first lesson: Please read the rules more closely. I believe you must have skimmed the user agreement which has all the rules listed, including the rule about picture limits for signatures. Thanks.

BTW your FB looks quite clean. Keep us posted on it's progress.

Welcome man, good luck with the 40. I'm glad that you have since moved on from your "rice" days, I was there too at one point. That Civic was about a sticker away HOLY SH*T!!! But look at the bright side, the first step to overcoming your sickness is acceptance. Once again, welcome.

welcome.. here are some styling ideas -
1. Get some hubcaps, nothing wrong with hubcaps.
2. You may want to consider trying to remove the black strip around the car, it will look alot more "up to date".
3. later down teh road, you can consider upgrading the headlights, I for one, hate the stock halogens.

lol. No thanks. Ima keep this car clean to the end. Where did that roofless se comment come from?

pss: "I've never heard of the xe model, only base model"
XE is the base model, then comes the SE (Sport) and LE (Luxury) My XE has no power options, no super hicas, no vlsd, and no ABS. I will be putting in a vlsd sometime this winter, but I can do without the rest of that crap, who needs it.

There's no XE trim for the 91. XE is a 89-90 trim (those don't have SE level)

Are the hubcaps on the wagon?
What? The car did have aftermarket caps (walmart bling) chrome wire spoke hubcaps, lol. I took them off. Ima roll the stealies for winter with my traction tires, and put a set of wheels on after winter. Iget wheels and supsension accessories cheap where I work cause I get a discount.

ps: Sizzlinbeef, do I konw you. How did you know I had a 3gee accord? Yes, this 240 hauls ass compared to my passed cars. For starters, it is in mint condition, has not rust, doesn't smoke, has lower miles then any car I have ever owned, is quicker handles better, and has a tight turn radius, and imo looks nicer. My accord was an auto too, so was weak, and my civic was a base d15. This is the nicest car I have ever owned.

1. Get some hubcaps, nothing wrong with hubcaps.

Just more to take back off when you do any real driving with it. There's a reason they make you take hubcaps off at autocrosses and track days.

It's pretty obvious you used to own a 3g Accord if your name has "LXi" in it. :)

Theres a reason I dont bring steel wheels to track days. Its obvious this car will not see any action for a while, at least until the nos goes in. Put your hubcaps back on so your car doesnt look like ghetto trash rice.

It's not like it matters. THREE MONTHS with steel wheels is not a long time. It will give me more time to find some medium offset 4-4.5 wheels anyway. Im going to roll the steal wheels all winter, I don't care how ghetto it looks for now. I'll post up some pics of my car lowered tomorrow even if it's still raining here.

i think this statement sucks.

you've had FIVE honda's, no one buys five of anything unless they are getting SOME type of enjoyment out of it. both nissan and honda make good cars. i'de take an S2000 and an NSX, both are hondas.

dont diss a car manufacturer thats known for making good cars, thats all. honda isnt a fuckin mickey mouse company, they make some of the most efficient motors ever.

besides, its not my fault you owned a riced out honda(s).. thats your problem. you can easily say nissan sucks if you fix up your 240 like an idiot.

its all about how you do it, not what you have. i've seen ferrari's look like shit because they're in the WRONG HANDS.

yeah, before i got my 91 coupe I was in the market for a 3gee and browsed the 3geez board alot. After like 2 years of only finding rusted out rear wheel wells and being suckered into misrepresented classfied ads, I gave up, but i remember your car (and the death of it). I'm still looking for a <$1000 no-rust 3gee though, for shits and giggles.

To add to cranky_old_s13's post, this is a common 'theme' on message boards:

"I used to own a xxx. Man, those cars suck! But I have the same car as you now, a blahblahblah. It rocks!"

What I've found is that it's usually not the car, it's the owner.

---

Either way, welcome to the boards! There's some good shit here if you don't get hung up on the personalities. GL with the car.

I had a 1980 honda accord, a 1984 honda accord, a 1985 honda accord, a 1988 honda accord, and a 1993 honda civic. All of those suck, and were given to me, with the acception of the civic, which I thought was a good deal for $1900, and later found out smoked like a train. I knew I loved my nissan before I joined this board, and joined BECAUSE I loved my car, and wanted to learn how to make it better, not to fit in with an online community, I could give less of a shit about forum communities. I know the s2000 and the NSX are great cars, hell, the integra can be a good car too, but I am talking about my price range. Honda sucks for under $4000. Civics, accords, and week ass 2g tegs that you need to dump an additional 2k into in order to go over 100 mph. If you feel like spending a shitload, then dodge is a nice company too, but we can all rag on the neon now can't we?
I LOOOVE how fight come up seemingly unprovoked on message boards. A person will make a statement based on their oipinion, and all hell brakes loose from the opinionated bastard in the corner. "Hey, that's not right, I'm going to be the forum nazi, and police this thread like a pig in a malibu"

lol, what's wrong with having a lot of pictures of my car? lol. I love it, maybe I should make a scrap book :D. And can I help it that I have nothing better to do during computer class than mess with photoshop?

dude get used to the forum fights on here. make a stupid comment and they are on you like white on rice. see if from our point of view. most of us that have been on here for years are the ones that do that. we've taken the time to do everything possible with these cars ourselves. few years down the road this drifting thing blows up bigtime and everybody and their brother now want a 240sx so they can "drift". and then they make stupid comments like "you can't drift without an sr" or "wanna go touge" and stupid shit like that. they think they know what they are talking about but they don't. so therefore we're always very weary of newcomers, especially ones coming from riced out hondas. worried they'll be ricing out our beloved s-chasis cars.

you on the other hand seem like you know a bit at least, first noob I've heard mention offset really. also you have yet to mention nos, sr, or rb or anything performance for that matter, or that you plan on drifting. yes you came from a riced out honda, but there was a point in time I was interested in a integra with altezzas and all kinds of rice stuff, thank god I didn't buy it and have since reformed. seems like you may fit into that boat as well, reformed from a ricer to a true car person, not a bandwagon jumper. and hey if you aren't a reformed from ricer, and are still a ricer, please get the hell off the boards. other than that feel free to stay.

Well,AKA, I think you should take in the consideration of hypertek's idea, cause, I don't think Willowsprings would allow that car on any autocross course, let alone theirs, so until you reach that point, you have no arguement toward any styling tips set upon a table in front of yah. that's just how I see it tho.

shane_lxi
11-10-2004, 11:12 AM
Yeah, I don't know alot of stuff yet, but I am learning, nd trying to soak up what aothers are saying, and doing research if I don't complete understand it all. I only understand offsets and suspensions because of my job at a tire company, so that's my general point of expertise. I don't plan on doing much visually to the car until I get all my performance work done. I know you guys are going to say I am hopping the bandwagon of sr swaps, but I am concidering either a ca18 swap or a sr20 swap, leaning more toward the readily available sr20. While I have very little interest in wrecking the car drifting, I do make frequent visits to the SIR, or atleast I did with my previous cars (which didn't do very well btw, lol) and would have no objection to trying it once or twice. I know fights break out on forums, I just think it's funny how they start sometimes on larger communities.
