Have you guys ever thought that the shifter position was a little low and wanted a shifter like this one or ever entertained the thought or have something like this. Just wondering and want to hear some feedback from fellow 240sx owners

Why in gods name would you get that. Might aswell get a 20" steering wheel to go along with it. Truck style.

Honda shifters are in the suckiest position. They are super low and it feels like you have to reach down. Our shifters are in the perfect spot and I'll feel that they don't need to be any higher.

I've got one of those huge shiftknobs, it's pretty High I think. That shifter looks alot like overkill.

I can't imagine why anyone in their right mind would want one in a 240. As already stated, honda shifters are much lower. Put one of those in a 240, and you'll practically be reaching UP to grab the shifter.

New Civic SI shifter is high up, feels good to me. 240SX shifter feels like its at a good position, no need to change over here.

After driving an EG with that shifter, I must say having the knob around 3 O'clock to the steering wheel is nothing but great (unless you're a stunna and you gotto sit gangster)

I'd totally install one on my s13.

on a side note: that fastline lever is a crazy piece! It's seriously one beefy and heavy hunk of metal. It's actually shipped in two pieces, but once you put them together you'd never know it. very solid

Got any pics of it?

When i finish my 5 speed swap, i'll be putting on the greddy counterweight knob. I dont really like ball style shifters cuz they're short, but i like the weight of the greddy one. Anyway, i was thinking of maybe using some kind of extension to make it a tad bit taller. Any pics of your set up would be awesome! Thanks.

Coupler + Stud + epoxy = extension. A friend of mine did it to his GSR years ago and no problemo.

i actually have a small spacer between the shifter knob and the the metal shift thingermaboob. i put some rubber bands there to keep it on tight... feels perfect for me.

My friend has one in his eg h1 honda challenge car and after driving it on track a couple of months ago I thought it would be nice to have because you dont have to move your hand too far away from the steering wheel to make shifts. It seems like the B&M is alittle low thats one of the reasons I asked for everyones opinion.

I test drove an Si, and the shifter position was one of the few things I really liked about the car. That and the seats were comfy. :)

Get your engine back together, Brandon!

And get a job!

And leave Randall alone!

And come get this ECU and CD off my porch!

I don't know if the over-extended portion of the shifter foot would fit in the 240 end-case. Hondas have as much room underneath the shifter as they need but the 240 is dependent on the transmission for shifter position. Time for somebody to design an electro-hydraulic shift mechanism so we can have a real 3 o'clock joystick.

The only problem that I see with teh new SI shifter is that 5th gear is a reach! Besides that, you would never know it's mounted on the DASH! As for the "extended" 240 shifter.....

I have an extension on my shifter that brian / yeswepromise got for me from Autobacs. Raises it up about 4" and moves it toward the wheel about an inch.

i LOVE it. Makes 3-2 downshifts midslide so much easier and more consistent. it's great. i don't get why everyone goes with shortshifters. it's all about longshifters.

Who drives with two hand on the steering wheel anyways? Also, if I did drive like a grandma, I'm sure my arm would get tired from holding it up.

i feel more comfortable driving with two hand on the canyon. driving with one is kinda hard. or maybe i just suck. haha.

Who gives a shit about ease doing 3-2 downshifts in any situation other than drifting?

no shit no one drives with 2 hands on the wheel.

People who turn their cars?

ever watch in car video of any racing series and see them with the seat reclined all the way G riding with one arm extended to the top of the steering wheel? NO, because it's stupid and gives no control.

I would love to have all the controls a few inches away from the steering wheel like in a WRC car.

To me, the only saving grace of those bubble shift knobs is their length. I would love for my shiftknob to be a couple inches higher.

Two-hands is the only way during performance (read: NOT DRIFT) driving.

its not a g ride thing. I drive with one hand most of the time. one hand on the shifter one on the wheel. your hand goes to the top cause you control the wheel better with it there. *WHEN DRIVING WITH ONE HAND* both hands put um at ten and two.

Phlip - shut up bastard!

i got a job.

engine wil get rebuilt after christmas.

Sway - glad to hear its back together. I still want to fix that wiring one of these days.

Actually, 10 and 2 is obsolete. Nowdays, 9 and 3 are much more common, and are taught in most performance driving schools, racing and otherwise. (CHP for example teaches 9 and 3)

As for 3-2 downshifts, I do them all the time. The touges I run are mostly 2nd with 3rd gear sections, including places where the fastest technique is to downshift into the corner, than upshift into a following straightaway, so quick 3-2 downshifts are very important.

holding the top middle of the wheel sucks... even when i drive with one hand, i hold the NINA... Cant make a u-turn, or even a quick 90 degree with hand on 12... ugh
