the organization of the forum platform is still so superior to the disorganized algorithm-generated bullshit that is facebook. pisses me off when i'm scrolling through a group, catch a glance of something that might be interesting just before clicking out of the group, go back, and can't find whatever it was for the fucking life of me. and yeah, of corse the idiots. sometimes it's a blessing when they don't know what they have (traded a rep kouki wing for a chargespeed type 1) but more often than not, what they have is shit.

i usually check in on here a few times a day to keep up with build threads, gen chat picture threads, and the for sale section. i feel like i know a decent amount of the remaining active members on here, and i enjoy seeing things that they don't post on other social media platforms.

I can't stand half the crap on the FB groups and only use them for a good troll. That and to low-ball for parts from fanbois who don't know what they've gotten into.

I've known of zilvia since 04 or so, but preferred FA. In the past 8 years, I took the sand out of my vag, and learned what zilvia was about. Lurked for the most part.
I agree about the FB bullshit, and I deleted my IG because I couldn't follow the builds I wanted and just got hotboiz suggested instead.
This place has a wealth of knowledge, and as I get older and saltier, so does the forum.

Im on zilvia almost every day... I started following a couple of parts manufacturers lik e origin on facebook, thats a very cool way to learn more about new aero and some show cars they produce.

there are a couple good uses for facebook, but zilvia is just more useful in general.

The KA group and local drifting org's are the only groups I've found without cancer. finding info on FB is atrocious and pretty much require you to make your own post whereas its archived so well here.

It’s always different in Cali. The last time I went to a 240 centric event was about 5-6 years ago (and I just brought my friends stock 30k mile S14 to show it off) I felt like I was seriously the old man in the room errrr park.

no way, there are a ton of great people in your neck of the woods, albeit most of them are in chicago, but that's close enough haha just gotta go to the right events and meet the right people i guess. sometimes easier said than done, but i can't think of a single event i've been to in the last 5 years (all over the country, not just CA) where people weren't welcoming, friendly, and willing to loan a jack, socket, or tierod without hesitation.

but i know that old man in the room feeling too. any time i go to a meet these days it's hard not to sit there and cringe at the state of some of the 240's :facepalm:

I use Zilvia quite frequently - usually at work like right now lol - mainly to check the For Sale threads. When I don't find anything else that interests me in the FS threads I start lurking around in other sections I usually don't visit. I feel like new contribution is definitely dying (most likely due to things having already been done i.e. SR20 swap info, wheel fitment, etc.), but I'm sure many still lurk around here just to see if there is anything else worth viewing.

Kinda wish I had joined Zilvia much earlier than I had, when it was more active with the cool OGs posting "new finds" and being acquainted with each other. Aka I feel like one of those "born in the wrong generation" dudes. Parts are with now overpriced, 240s on Craigslist are beat to and running like shit for the same price I got my S13 for when it was bone stock, people use the excuse that "240s aren't meant to be clean" ...like wtf lol smh.

Well anyways I've always believed this car shit is mainly to bring cool people with cool cars together, which I hope is still the case when I get my car back on the streets. Gonna try to be more active on this forum when my car is actually presentable.

Funny thing, I recently found a guy who bought my car from the guy I sold it too...fond memories seeing that car still going strong as late as '14/'15. Guy told me he parted it and sold the shell. Bummer...now that I am older and can afford great parts...wish I hadn't sold it. Such is life.

Since I caged my car and made it undrivable, it's been in mothballs. I'm still deciding on engine choice (dry-sumped 5.0L Olds-215-based all-alloy V8 with ITBs?), trans choice, body mod choice, and I have to finish building the cage through the firewall in the front and getting the steering set up for my seating position that's significantly lower, more centralized and farther back than stock.

It pains me to see something that once brought me such joy sitting on two flat tires awaiting my ass to get some reprieve from restoring cars and starting businesses.

I always used Zilvia more than I contributed. I did some cool stuff, but even back then it was kinda fringe and wouldn't have helped more than a handful of dudes.
