Decided to post up my build for those who have questions on how the swap goes. Purchased last august, a bone stock auto 1995 240SX base model with working AC and 220,000 miles on the ODO.

Went with a CX Racing kit that I got at a steal from a member on here, let me just say not pleased with fitment and I've had to modify almost every part. Going back I would be Sikky or Fueled the whole way.

Are you planning on keeping AC/PS/Heat/Cruise?

AC - Yes, I do have the Sikky kit, just waiting to get it installed.
PS - Yes, running turn one adapter and Sikky PS conversion lines.
Cruise - No
Heat - No

The car is running and driving, have about 1000 miles on rebuild so far. I just have to get all my photos straight

What killed the rod bearings? Was the engine a dud when you bought it?

Why are you using a small cam and stock 241 heads on top of that wonderful forged rotating assembly? Why not just grind the crank and replace the rod bearings on your old rods?

Have you noticed a huge difference with the heat shielding on the trans tunnel? I could cook breakfast on my trans tunnel and I'm in need of some ideas to fix it.

Doesn't take you long to get things done! Looking forward to seeing your progress. Looks good!

The motor got starved from oil, plus being at 100k mileage already I decided to rebuild it. I got another crank and had it polished, went 0.10” over. The reason for going forged was having a buddy who a customer backed out on his purchase so I got these for a steal. The motor hasn’t been tuned yet, still dialing it in with cooling. In regards to the trans tunnel it’s been night and day, the DEI shielding has been great. The passenger compartment stays relatively cool so it’s definitely worth it if you’re thinking to reduce heat.

The heat today is definitely a good test, on the way to work it wasnt bad at all. Only reached about 190 cruising, but after I was off the fwy and getting on it about 210. Driving doesnt worry me, its traffic I just want to make sure that the fans can keep up. I've installed the LRB lower cooling panel too to see if it helps, that being said I've done a few things together so hard to say whats working or if it all is together. I am debating doing a DMAX scoop and cutting the hood. There goes my discrete appearance somewhat. :picardfp:

I am going to open the small hole in the inner fender and take fresh air from that location. It rains all the time here and lots of big puddles to splash up, and I use a paper cone so water is no good with paper. It would probably disintegrate. So I am in a similar position and have been giving this much thought.

I think what I Will try is an aluminum panel that opens facing rearward, so it will not catch rain. And then open the hole some more (already opened it a bit as is).

The sickest solution is a large flat air cleaner embedded into the core support that feeds from the hood in such a way that is water-friendly. But that is unrealistic. However, a similar approach may be used if you have access to 3d printing, some kind of small box would be made to fit a space and use a common filter. Today though there are many cone style filters to choose from so its rarely a pressing issue. More like a finishing touch.

The main thing being of course, to keep the filter in the engine bay and protect it from water. While still giving it access to outside air. I am in the process of walling off that corner of the engine bay so that it only shares 'outside air' and not engine bay air. or something like that. I think I just had an idea...

The best fans I can recommend for all swaps are those Altima dual fans, $85 shipped from ebay works fantastic here in florida, ls no issues

Thankfully out here in CA we dont get too much rain, so putting the filter there isnt a big deal. If it does rain I just dont drive this thing honestly. The altima fans were and option, I am just curious how big they are. I am using CX's kit and its freaking tight. I am trying to not cut anything or move my radiator any farther forward because I would like to keep AC and not move the condenser.

Which lifters are those? If LS7, throw them in the garbage.

This is one of my LS7 lifters that was paired with a Comp cam. And I was not alone. Multiple threads on LS1tech with the same lifters. Hopefully you used something different but if not, I would swap them out.

Why not run an oil cooler setup to help keep engine cool.

You can chase coolant mods all day and it may help but the addition of a mocal thermostat oil cooler is beneficial in more ways than one.

RVAE34 - I went with the stock lifters as I am not trying to push anything crazy with this block. The reason I think my lifters are having issues is my valve train tick I’ve been hunting down.

Greenwood - I have one ready to go, just haven’t had the time to get it installed. I was thinking that I should in theory be able to keep it cool with fans. I’ll be doing some updates soon to this thing. Swapping my other car right now so this one needs to remain in use in case any speed bumps with that.

Got around to relocating the battery in the trunk

https://i.imgur.com/ENVWoK3l.jpg

Added my switch for the additional fan (potentially A/C fan when that happens)

https://i.imgur.com/eMrANp1l.jpg

Had some problems with the exhaust kit, just not happy with how low it sat and was scraping everywhere. I am not very low nor do I plan to be crazy low so just getting it above or just half inch past frame is good. After hours of tweaking the setup finally got it where I wanted.

https://i.imgur.com/DelAWwfl.jpg

Finally installed the LRB Speed cooling panel and cut out the oil filter/plug access panel. Unfortunately for me where I mounted my remote filter I had to cut off their branding "LRB."

Next update will be the oil cooler and tune as soon as my tuner arrives for Formula Drift.

Thanks for the kind words, You’re correct it’s just driven for fun. No drifting or autocross at this time, I want the cooler to add more quantity of fluid and also help keep temperatures down. Seen a few 240’s around Chino Hills lately, even a V8 one that I could'nt get to in time.

Yea they didnt have much information on the website on what to do. Make sure you swap the entire assemblies from left to right, including shoes, hardware, and cables. Also grind down the indexing notch where the cables bolt to the trans tunnel. Dont worry once bolted down (I used lock nuts) they dont move at all. Been driving on the setup now for almost 500 miles with no issues.

Honestly it’s pretty straight forward man, follow the FSM use good grease and set the preload. Other than that it’s just seals and o rings. I used Gates #348675.
I’m rebuilding another for a buddy of mine I can take more photos if you’d like.

Wow this build has taken it up a notch. I like the s15 front end route you're taking. Any aftermarket aero in the future?

Thanks, not sure on the aftermarket aero. I’m not a fan of it or widebody(atleast bolted on/rocket bunny/pandem garbage) so I want to utilize factory body lines of the s14 over the s15 fenders. Staying 100% oem metal on fenders and factory plastics.

That hood vent was horrible, I couldn’t keep the car cool with my old setup. The route is not to put any vent, at this point I would rather cut the front tubs out if I really had too. I think that the Chasebay setup now is gonna be fine, but we’ll see when the intercooler is placed in front of the radiator. I want this to remain a streetable car and retain some of the OEM structure like factory core support rather than just tuning the whole thing.

So again...I know I fucking hated how loud the scoop was, but it helped.

Thanks man, yours is coming along so nicely I gotta keep up with the bar! I have seen that one before, it’s nuts. There’s a lot of stuff that is more kind to the LHD platform on the LS but nothing out of reach. I’ll be using Sikky RHD headers that just came out so excited about that, in combination with a MSD shorty starter. Lol yea man! When I saw it a tear shed honestly lol. The “relax, irs not a show car” simply implied I have plans to drive it. I am not cutting corners but I wanna enjoy the car and not solely for shows. It’s getting the S15 front face lift, tons of JDM S14 interior goodies like full green light package, S14 HUD, and other stuff. Full engine bay paint, interior paint, outer paint with new moldings and what have you. Oh and finish supercharging the LS. Going RHD brings some adversities to the LS platform.

However...thank you Black Friday, full Sikky kit will be here this week!

Nissanparts on Instagram has most of the moldings. They go in/out of stock a lot, I purchased a while back and have been stock piling knowing I’ll need it later.

Happy New Years Everyone!

The car is finally back home!!!!!! So awesome to see the RHD firewall completed and the S15 core support. My buddy JP at J&V Auto Body absolutely killed it! I couldn't be happier with it and it's not even painted yet.

The Altezza has been keeping me busy, the new S/C setup was engineered for a VW bug so the alignment of the belts is off. Have to modify the custom hub.

Cut the outer housing off the snout for the S/C since now going to a fixed pulley setup. Waiting for my machinist to give me back the hub that will be moved inward.

Update 1/16/20

Received the last pieces of the RHD metal that I needed to make this as OEM as possible. My buddy from NZ mailed me the RHD dash bar and RHD E-brake lever mount for the trans tunnel.

https://i.imgur.com/DBDZ2RFl.jpg

Drilled the spot welds out of the bracket and removed the bracket from the cut section he mailed me. Also sanded down the dash bar as it was rusty probably from its time in a junkyard. Primed it with rust protector and then some black paint. Should have some progress on this thing over the weekend.

Altezza Update (if anyone is even following this part haha)

Got the new S/C on the car, took some modifications of the pulley for belt alignment but its working great. Dyno is this weekend, I also decided to replace all the ignition coils with OEM goodness. Installed an IS300 Koyo radiator in with no issues, just some new holes on the radiator mounting straps up top. Aiming for over 200BHP.

Hope to have the car to fabricator soon, Socal is being hit with a shit ton of rain so I don't want to move the car with so much exposed metal. Loads of relief as the CAR IS FINALLY AT FAB SHOP!!!!

Dropped the car off yesterday at Speed Socal (formally known as Mckinney Motorsports) for I/C piping, exhaust, sheet metal and a few more things.

https://i.imgur.com/x31ptYYl.jpg

While the car is at the shop, I decided to pull out some parts and start trying to figure this S14 HUD shit out. So far I've gone through many threads years ago on here about some info but most photos links are dead.

I have acquired A S14 HUD projector (Kouki I belive) and one Kouki HUD cluster and one Zenki HUD cluster. The Zenki cluster is more complete in my eyes because it has the module mounted to the back with pigtails. I however don't have the subharness that goes between and sourcing one I'm sure will be almost impossible. I'm gonna start going through the JDM manuals to try and find anything.

Also need some help on this, I do not have the connection/pigtail that plugs into the projector. It's a flat 20 pin style, I am currently going through Nissan tech manual for connectors but no luck yet.

https://i.imgur.com/Et8kW7Ol.jpg

Once the car is back and all painted, can't wait to get the full JDM green lighting package in!

Another option is to find a Kouki Silvia dash harness. I'm pretty sure that all Koukis were prewired for HUD, but just taped up the unused plugs for unequipped cars. Just checked my Kouki harness and both the projector and cluster plugs were there.

Update 4/18/20

Got some more work done on the car tonight, routed the dash harness and started plugging in the HVAC components.

https://i.imgur.com/BHUrJmPl.jpg

I also did alot of research on the differences between the DEI Gold Vs. Silver. Found out that silver actually has better reflective heat properties that the gold does. The silver also flows much better with my engine bay. I also ran out, so I will need to get more and finish up the areas I want extra in.

https://i.imgur.com/wgu3aOzl.jpg

Had a slight delay with the clutch setup, didnt know I had the single disc set hardware, ordered the twin disc hardware from Mcleod but due to COVID I'm sure I wont see it till end of the week. This means to have the car to paint hopefully by weekend.

Once again mom came in for the win and helped me get it back in the car.

Car is now at JV Auto with JP for exterior paint and final body work!!!!!!!

https://i.imgur.com/AdjAlPpl.jpg

Have a few issues to sort with the LS engine and RHD. One being the clutch master cylinder is extremely close to the RH head. I cant use the wilwood I had while LHD. I'm working with just over 2" of room. Right now the Chase Bays solution is still too far forward, Sikky has a solution in the works but no ETA and I have another route that I might look into for now. Ill keep this updated on that part incase anyone else runs into it.

I will have photos soon of the S14.5 metal fender conversion, that is next along with body panel alignment.

Yea man she's already rubbing it in hard too haha!! Thank you, we're on the fender grafting portion now. The goal is to retain the factory s14 body line and delete the s15 marker light. I'm gonna have an update tonight on this thing.

Yes I have an Altezza that I drive about 2 days a week (or whenever I can really) so I won't say I'm an expert but very comfortable doing so. The power and handling of the 240 is way different than my sedan of course so it will take some adjusting.

Update 4/27/20

Absolutely loving the front end look.

I cleaned up the RHD wiper motor and sprayed it.

https://i.imgur.com/Co3S723l.jpg

https://i.imgur.com/7du40s3l.jpg

Also moving forward with the tuning the car will be utilizing speed density over MAF so I purchased a thread in IAT sensor. I had the machinist at work whip me up a bung and got it welded into the hot pipe.

https://i.imgur.com/nj3meQCl.jpg

https://i.imgur.com/92dLcgBl.jpg

Spoke to a buddy overseas with a S15 LS2 and got my clutch master issue resolved. He utilized a Volkswagon European model vehicle's master and drilled new holes in the firewall to fit it. One other key feature of how compact the master is the factory remote reservoir which I may just plumb into my brake master. I took apart the Sikky Wilwood adapter plate and popped out the studs. I plan to make new holes when the new clutch master arrives from the UK and then weld the studs in place.

Yea man stock s15 hood. I?m not sure you noticed yet but I?m thriving to keep all oem stuff here. As long as engine temps permit me to keep running that hood I will. Even then if not I?d try small ducting or cuts in the hood before a scoop again.

Had some left over Fatmat so I figured why not do the doors, I never see anyone who does the doors.

https://i.imgur.com/Zn6dsArl.jpg

Adding in the interior harnesses and created the mounting area for the trunk/gas lever on the RHD side since its not stamped into both sections.

Test fitting the plates, I'm going to have to modify the Tomei 3PT strut bar mount slightly but it wont affect the strength or integrity.

All the LS swaps I've mount the fuel filter extremely close or in a hot area so I'm going to modify the Sikky full lines kit and moved the filter under the car near the frame rail (Its loose, just for test fit).

Thanks a lot Future I appreciate that man. Just trying to make my best vision of my ideal 240. I'm to the point with builds/shows/seeing projects in general that I would rather not know the motor until the end. I feel that people are so quick to drop their interest and not see the level and aspects of a build if it doesn't have a period correct or oem manufacture engine. Anyways enough with my rant..

Update 6/13/20

Not as a productive day as I wanted but I was able to knock some stuff out. So many things arriving, I'm having to write down what needs to be done in sections so I don't forget.

https://i.imgur.com/vdwIXAXl.jpg

Quick test fit of the VW master, looking flawless and with heaps of clearance from the valve cover. I ordered up the fittings for the banjo connection and will get a -3AN hose to the slave once I have a length needed.

https://i.imgur.com/qeEvWqWl.jpg

Also got the Radium FPR in-rail style mounted.

https://i.imgur.com/kElgoScl.jpg

Speaking of Radium, I did get the fittings for the fuel filters and the brackets needed to mount them. I also went ahead and ordered the Powerhouse Racing S14 fuel tophat with -8AN feed and -6AN return. Once my Walbaro 525 shows up from Summit I'll start that install.

https://i.imgur.com/9MyMdWFl.jpg

Needed some stickers from the recent Nissanparts pack so I decided to go ahead and order all the OEM rubber trunk bumpers. I absolutely love closing all my doors, hood and trunk because of the feel when it latches. Not a single 240 I have previously owned had any of these items replaced, its such a breathe of fresh air ha.

https://i.imgur.com/IzSwKjfl.jpg

https://i.imgur.com/p9QO7s1l.jpg

Greddy Airnix filter mounted and ready to go, need to mount the wheel next to see if it clears.

https://i.imgur.com/Goq9Phel.jpg

Made the rail jumper hose, put slim line caps on the openings on the bottom of the rails and got the Radium pressure gauge on the passenger side rear rail. Starting to connect the Chase Bays milspec LS harness and extend connections using OEM metripak stuff from work :coold:

Searched all over the internet and found some S15 hood props off Amazon from a company called Autobahn. Not a bad price, similar in design to the P2M S14. Either way, they're holding the hood for now.

https://i.imgur.com/eUCBe23l.jpg

Headers are due to arrive Monday from JetHot, I was surprised to see the update in shipping ETA. Once the headers are on then the exhaust obviously, I am going to be itching to start this thing.

The next photo gives me headaches just looking at it, but once I have some time I can start laying out the harnesses and routing them correctly. My Altezza is running a Link PnP kit with a harness jumper made by Panic Wire so I opted to move the LS over to it as well due to how impressive it has been. I have a full uncut cabin harness coming from Russia right now so I can have 100% RHD harnesses in hopes of everything connecting and working with no issues.

https://i.imgur.com/RcpIrBLl.jpg

As I mentioned before I will have more updates as soon as I can. I have to ship back my bash bar and catch can for a modified version for some clearance problems. If my headers come in on Monday I cant lie and say I am not going to sneak over before work one day to get them on and see what it looks like! :naughtyd:

Decided to be a little extra and get some of that hot boy vulcan heat wrap for my hoes....

Currently how she still sits, I am getting the catch can and new bash bar in next week and dropping off more body parts for paint. Sorting the fuel still and all the hoses and belt routing.

I will continue to keep this thing going, more to come next weekend.

Yea man the chrome and satin are only good for 1300, anything higher they turn color. I expect to be close to that heat range, but why not go for more right? The color came out awesome, I was very worried only looking at a splotch online but they delivered. Hopefully they reduce the heat as good as they look as they definitely made the value of my headers go up haha :duh:.

Update 7/2/20

Was able to get some work done on Tuesday with the help of parts arriving. Installed pass side valve cover and coil pack assembly.

Installed the pass side Shakitto plate and started to install the Tomei 3PT bar.

https://i.imgur.com/CS2Et45l.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/3OSpxVxl.jpg

I put the driver side valve cover on but no coil packs since it will need to come back off for me to slide the clutch master in.

https://i.imgur.com/0VtfaVvl.jpg

Next up on the todo list is the belt routing, grabbed a belt from a truck at work to check and reference. 956MM is slightly too big and I also ordered a smaller idler pulley since the tensioner and idler pulley are too close for comfort.

https://i.imgur.com/RIeXJ76l.jpg

BREAK BEAT IS FANTASTIC!!!!!

Chris absolutely knocked this project out of the park for me, he made me a custom gauge adapter for my Nismo RHD door card gauge bezel so I could run a 52MM gauge. The finish is spot on with what I had in mind. I also picked up an ashtray gauge adapter for the OEM radio trim.

So the next bits are not to bash Chasebays as I love their products and company and I will continue to support them. The LS powersteering RHD option they offer works, however in order to screw the hose onto the outlet on the PS pump they recommend pulling the pulley, installing hose and then pressing pulley back on. Well....that doesn't sit right with me...

So well fix by removing some off the inside edge of the PS pulley, roughly .060"

Thank you! Now that majority of parts are here I should be able to knock stuff out soon. First order for start up will be ensuring electrical is read to go.

I didn?t flip through the entire build, but what I did see looks top notch sir. What power figures are you looking for?

Thank you, appreciate the kind words. Well the S/C is rated for 750HP, and while that?s all great. I?m running 91, I?d prefer to see what I can do before timing pulls and the ultimate decision to go E85 or a blend of 91/100 octane. I would honestly be happy with around 500-600HP range. I wanna be able to have fun with it and not worry about it losing a piston.

However...that being said. If this motor decides to say goodbye it would only spark me to get a 7 liter block or LSR and get greedy and go for big boost numbers.

I still have my Altezza to start after this so I wanna get this one to a nice comfortable point before I down that one too.

My problem with building for E85 is it builds (pun intended) fuel dependency. Plan on 91, add flex so you can run E85. Even though I have corn in my garden, I don?t have corn fuel near by and I refuse to travel excessive distances just to fill up on E.

I?d rather throw 5-10gals of 110 or another highly oxygenated fuel in the tank and let it eat those nights I want to have fun.

My thoughts exactly, 100 octane is readily available at pumps at various locations around me for roughly $10 a gallon. I would more than likely just buy a 55 gal drum of 100/110 or something in that range.

Yea man I mean I am. I wrapped them in hose fire sleeve and the headers are coated by the best in the game so I?m hoping between all of those things and Chasebays research it?ll be ok. There is not a better way to run the lines due to headers and rack clearance.

After I was on my high horse I got knocked down. The new updated design Sikky uses for the oil fittings on the oil pan have allen head bolts that go from pan flange down into fitting block with copper crush washers. My pan started leaking right as I put oil in it from the bolt threads. So instead of pulling motor, I supported the motor with the hoist then removed the lower crossmember then pan.

https://i.imgur.com/fIxOgpwl.jpg

I went to my local part store and got some much better fitting copper crush washers, and decided to also seal them off with black silicon to ensure no more leak.

These next two photos are what the car currently looks like at the moment. I want to have it running and tip top shape before I install the windshield and dash. I am getting the Link Storm set up with Mark Panic. I need to make timing marks once I find TDC and then hit the engine with a timing light. It wants to crank but sounds like its hitting on the wrong cylinder. I am using the same motor setup (minus S/C) so the LS2 front timing sensor shouldn't have any problems, its just getting the trigger angle in the tuning correct. I ran out of time again so it'll have to wait till this weekend. Sorry for the lag, I assure you the car is still being worked out despite all my setbacks

Shit is looking fire as fuk...got 5k in heat/protective sleeving lol.

Hahaha sorry man I forget to update here as well. I?m hoping to have this thing started this weekend. Gonna get the timing done and hopefully we?ll see some smoke.

Seriously haha, every time I go I say I only need a little and end up with rolls of different sizes and a ton extra. Hopefully it all works and does as intended.

Hahaha hey buddy.

Well I routed my fuel lines incorrectly. A normal person would have read instructions on the new Radium DMR pressure regulator but I didn?t. So basically my feed and return were just making a big U. I need to move my pressure gauge, move my feed line over and should be good. Saturday I got the Link dialed in after I found TDC #1 and used a timing light to verify where I was. It?s definitely been frustrating but learning a lot and super happy with the progress.

The car started on brakleen, and I lit my arm on fire but it was so nice to hear it again. I?m going today to the local store for some bulk AN hose and a few fittings. Tomorrow I?m off and will be back on the car, should have a running update tomorrow :D

Finally what a huge step forward on this project that has seemed to take forever. The engine and super charger are sounding awesome, those straight cut Vortech gears have such a distinct whine.

I have been continuing to work on the idle and getting the Link Storm ECU all dialed in and getting a decent map until I can get this on the dyno. I have been working on this consistently, I just havent had time to write about it all. I am currently wiring up headlights, gauges, efans, and all the other random things to aim closer to installing the dash once all wiring is okay. I will have more pics by the weekend.

Wasn’t able to make it this past weekend, I’ll be there tomorrow. Got some more titanium parts in the mail. Wasn’t aware about the upkeep of Ti and the oil in our skin how it tarnishes the finish with use. Guess I’ll to start carrying around gloves haha.
