don't wana bitch about these things or anything...i just wana let people know what they get b4 they buy...anyways...

i bought some taka turbo lines for my garrett GT28 on my redtop...call phase2 and made sure they would fit...and of course 'they will'....so i take off my turbo and my log mani...put half the lines on...only to find out that the line that was the WHOLE reason i bought the kit (bcuz the stock one is a BITCH to put back on...) didn't fit...i did EVERYTHING you could think of to get that sucker to go in, and it wouldn't...the first problem was the threads were not fine enough at the tip..so i ground them down and finally got the adapter thing to fit in the hole of the turbo...then i try to put the L link on...only to find out it will not clear the turbo inlet...so THEN...i grint that shit almost ALL the way down to where it would just BARELY screw on enough to be safe...and it STILL will not fit...after wrestling with it for a bit longer, i gave up and put the stock one back and, and then wrestled w/ that to finally get it on :/...well...THAT was just the line i was most concerned with. Another thing that happened was when i pulled the hoses out of the box...i tugged on the ends ever so slightly to make sure they were put on well and wouldnt start spewing oil and coolant b/c they werent on tight or somthing...so i tug on all of them...they are fine..cept for the one that connects to the oil tap closest to the firewall, almost level w/ the valve cover...i tugged on it just a TAD..and the sob end cap falls right off...and i get stuck with about 50 shards of poorly cut braided steel lining...not a very pleasnant thing. So after pulling all that crap out of my hand with some tweezers...i got back to it..found it was IMPOSSIBLE to get that cap back on..so i went and bought a lil hose and used to adapt the hose of the taka line to the stock hose. Well, the two taka lines that actually worked (one of them half way b/c i had to use that hose i bought...) were nice...they are nice and flexi...so u can manuver them all around, only problem is there is just a bit to much length in them. so...i spent 150 bucks on more work...some pain...a lot of curse words...wow. So, my thoughts on them...i wouldn't buy them if i were you. Although i did like the lines that acutally worked, the design of them is VERY poor, and they are simply not worth the money or the hassle...save your 150 bucks and buy some tie rods or somthing. I put some tein rods and rod ends on my car today too, and omg i LOVE them :D!!! the steering angle spacer OWNS, i can cut some MAD turns now, and it is stiff as crap, lol. easy install, perfect fit, good instructions...LOVE them to death :D..w00t...

anyways, just thought i would let ppl know...be VERY warry before u buy these...they may well work for most, but my experiance was horrible...so do some reasearch :)

yea i was doubting it cuz of the price..not the quality...now i have more reason to doubt them. i was jus gonna have a local shop make my line 4 cheaper.

Well I just installed the taka lines on my blacktop with and S15 T28 and and aftermarket manifold and didn't really have any problems with fitment or anything. My car actually runs quite cooler now thanx to them to :rawk:

Whoa, harsh review

Takamotorsports.com would be more then happy to help you and answer any questions on install.
You should've asked phase2 or Taka for help.

I have nothing but good things to say about TAKA lines, Heck ... I prototyped S13 lines, S14 lines, oil cooler fitment.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience. I'm sure if you email them, they'll help.

ehh...the damage is already done...and i got the turbo in...so asking them for help now would be pointless...only thing i would want would be some money back b/c Phase2 promised it would fit perfectly...but its not that big of a deal :/ ...i got what i paid for and deserved it i guess..although those things were expensive as shit... :/ oh well

I was very happy with my lines used on my s15 turbo for my s14. They fit with no problems at all. Sorry to here that yours didn't.

You should have emailed TAKA/phase2 before you went and screwed with the lines (and before you went and started mouthing off).

I had a similar problem with a steel braided clutch line I got from phase2; fucker wouldnt go in and it ended up cross threading. (WTF?) Dunno what happened to this day. But it works and it doesnt leak,so whatever.

Anyway, after the fact, I emailed Wayne, and he offered to send me a new line, free of charge. No questions asked.

THAT's customer service.

So, moral of the story.. EMAIL THE VENDOR/MANUFACTURER first. Especialy before you go onto a forum and start crying about stuff that may/may not be the case. Everyone else I have spoken to that has used TAKA motorsports lines has not had ANY issues with the installation.

First of all, I suggest you go back and take an third grade English class. Reading your post gave me a headache.

Secondly, if it didn't fit... STOP! Taka is a great guy, I emailed him about ten times before finally ordering lines from him. I ended up buying lines for my GT2871R and my rear brakes. They all fit perfectly. Taka responds to email within a day.

Ditto all the other comments. I've had the same set of taka lines on my T25, my GT25R, and now a GT2871R, and the fit has been perfect for all 3 turbos. That aside, the lines have survived at least 4 or 5 turbo R&R's and are holding up fine.

i installed them just fine with a s15 turbo and aftermarket manifold too....maybe your application is incorrect or your not putting them on right?

you said it brother.

from our experience with customer doing their own install,
it's all up to the individual "mechanic" level.
we had customer ask if this or that part is easy to install all the time.
for us yes because we have the right tool and experience, but it would be easy to some but almost impossible to others.
make sure you use the correct tools and when you install aluminum fittings you put in at the correct angle(flat) not off because they strip very easily.
also it would be easier to remove the whole turbo/manifold to install those lines then replacing them while it's on the car(great for when you do turbo upgrade).
cheers,

sam

its easier to write up a complaint on the internet, because its more time consuming to call up a company and inquire as to whether or not they can help remedy the situation.

i am not taking sides, but if something didnt seem right.. I would call the company and seek a remedy. if a fitting came off, i would call them up and request a replacement for that defective product -- i wouldnt necessarily try to fix it unless it was an easy fix and within my capabilities.

bottom line is, when you pay for a product and service.. you had better get what you pay for. which is why, most of the time.. i dont mind paying MORE because i know that when you skimp.. in the long run, you'll end up getting bit in the ass. I'de rather pay more knowing that the company will still be in business and that i am supporting a good quality, well rooted company. Most of these knockoff companies are fly-by-night, which is why i dont do business with them. doesnt matter if i am buying spark plug wires or a front clip, i want service.

when it comes to taka's SS lines, i know they're quality, fairly priced, and are not looking to "jack" their customers. i know the owner, and i know too many people who are using their products. maybe thats just me, supporting people i know are "involved" in the 240sx community.

Has anyone had a problem with one of the coolant 90deg fittings hitting the wastegate actuator rod?
