View Full Version : 5-Lug Conversion.. Wheels don't spin.

Hello everyone,

I have a 91 hatch that I'm in the process of doing a 5 lug conversion on. Ichiba hubs with EBC Ultimax plain rotors. I've come to find out after taking things apart and putting them back together that the rotor comes into contact with the caliper bracket. The caliper doesn't even want to go over the pads, I have to force it on. Then the hub doesn't spin at all at that point.

I've tried searching, the only thing I've seen was that there was a difference in diameter between 96 and 97-98 rotors. The rotors I bought say they are for 96-98..
Thank you. Sorry for the story, I rather give more info that might be useful than less.

I’m not sure if s13 and s14 calipers are the same, I could be wrong but I could see them being different

If you take off the rotor and compare the size of the stock 4 lug one to the new one, I’m gunna just guess that the new one is slightly bigger. That would be your problem

It is slightly bigger. I’ve come to find that out last night.

That's not normal. You should be able to run S14 rotors with an s13 brake caliper/bracket set up.

Yeah that’s what I figured too. Does it matter what year S14 ones? Or just any S14 SE rotors?

You probably did not receive S14 rotors. They literally the same

You probably received ABS/kouki rotors which are slightly larger than the 89-96 non ABS rotors. I remember selling my stock 97 front brakes to a friend who had a zenki and we were surprised that the brakes were different.

Okay that makes sense. Hm, that’s crazy. Non abs it is. Thank you very much.
