Well, since it seems to be the new trend, lets make a club. Don't know what the hell we'll do.... maybe give eachother moral support. After all, it is quite a hard thing to take. haha In this thread, everyone who has been "pinked" shall post up why they were pinked...... This just might turn out to provide some good laughs.

Here, I'll start:

Oh wait, whoever pinked me didn't even bother to tell me why. Thanks guys!!

Maybe one of the Mods would like to fill me in. :hsdance:

My other pink brothers........ what atrocious acts landed you in the doghouse?

EDIT: went on another computer and checked to see why i got pinked. I told MakotoS13 to "quit being a dick". hahahahahahahahahahah Mods are pinking people for shit like that? :fruit:

How about other punishments that wouldn't be so trendy. Like put a rainbow color flag for their avatar or profile.

West, I truly appreciate all of the time you've spent on zilvia.net.

However, I think some of your mods are pinking people for such stupid things, that it's losing its value as a punishment. People don't take it seriously for that reason. It appears to many of us that mods are abusing their powers, there have been multiple threads regarding just that.

exactly. i dont feel the need to post much or feel like broswing here much becuz all i see is things get locked. when users make pointless things and get OT a bit, the mods get angry. yet when the mods get OT and make pointless things they dont do jack.

might as well pink poeple for expressing what they have to say.

First, pinked users are not allowed to create new threads. Dunno why vB isn't accepting that setting, so I'll just have to manually enforce it.

Second, pinkings have been given for stuff like name-calling, racial slurs, etc. It's a very light punishment. Go ahead and say that it's losing its effect. We're only doing short-term pinkings because we're being nice. We're not on powertrips, just trying to maintain order here.
SilviaDriver - you're full of it. I let threads slip by all the time that get pretty far OT. It's a rare day I lock a thread for that (without first giving a warning). There is something to be said for pointless threads and posts.
An excellent example of this is here: http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=65448 , post #10 by twitchy. That post is utterly useless. Not only that, it's fucking up a policy thread. That shit pisses ME off.
If you guys feel strongly enough that pinking is ineffective, we'll just go back to permabans. I'm ok with that. I only introduced pinking because I thought an outright ban is a little harsh, and wanted a less harsh punishment so that while users knew they were being punished, they could still come to the forums.
Honestly, after thinking about it, we HAVE been too nice lately.

From now on, pinking will last a MINIMUM of one month. If the user fucks up again, they're permabanned.
