These things have been in design/mockup phase for too long, the 240Z we had access to was unceremoniously shipped to a far away land, and nothing came of it, or at least nothing concluded. There were a few early adopters clamoring for the kit who have also gone into witness protection, so here we are....
Basically the kit is a weld-in adapter which replaces the strut tube on the S30 upright, and I belieeeeeevveee is compatible all the way up to 280Z, but haven't been able to definitively answer that, sacrificial parts are hard to come by. Once converted, the upright accepts any standard S13 front coilover, with the caveat that an aftermarket S30-specific top hat be used, or the hat (and/or strut tower) be modified to fit.
The main benefit of such a hybrid setup is it offers a ton of backspacing for larger wheels in the back, as well as camber adjustment at the wheel, rather than at the chapman arm. There's also a side benefit in reducing the camber curve, which becomes excessive on lowered S30's, something extended aftermarket arms increase as well.
In the case of very wide track cars with very extended chapman arms, this kit should allow a return to a more normal camber setting, as the S13 coilover with the adapter can go more positive than the oem strut tube.
These adapters have a long track record of use in Z31 and S130 front setups, with a smattering of S12 and F31 owners running them as well. To see more of those products with installed customer photos see: www.facebook.com/responsetype/
Please send a message on facebook to discuss further, thank you!
