I have this coupe that has HUD but It doesnt work,I know that its a common problem so I searched and people say that a circuit breaks and you have to sauder it back. Well I took the cluster out today and I dont know what the hell im doing or what to look for,,do I have to take the digital readout out and inspect that? Here are pics I took,,if someone could point out were to look and what to look for that would be a big help.

The knob that you use to switch it from mph to km/h.... if you push that, it will cut the HUD off and on.... did you try that before you took it out?

no I didnt but the speed screen in the cluster doesnt work either,,does the knob also turn that off?

Damn Bro...I give you credit for taking the initiative by tearing apart your dash & pulling out the digital readout!! But you sure are right about wondering about what the hell you are doing!! hahaha...

Can't really say which circuit has gone bad, as I don't own a S13 with a digital HUD. But from prior electronics experience, what I can tell you is, is that you're going to have to disconnect all those white wire cables that connect each circuit board together & inspect the silver solder connections on the bottom of each board. Make sure each silver solder connection is properly & firmly attached to the circuit board. If you see any silver solder connections that are cracked or slightly detached from the circuit board, then you are going to have to resolder them back with a soldering iron.
If after inspecting all the circuit boards on the HUD unit & you don't notice any broken or loose solder connections, then chances are either a diode, transistor, resistor or IC chip has gone bad on the HUD unit. Only way you'll be able to figure out which it is is with a schematic diagram listing the components & the proper diagnostic tools. Best bet is, see if you can find a electronics repair shop that specializes in automotive repair. If not, then make friends with an electrical engineering student or teacher!!
Anyhow, hope this helps....
Good luck!!

Naw...I wouldn't say that...you just need to ask around. You might find someone willing enough to give it a try & see if they can fix it. It ain't gonna happen overnight though. Don't toss it in the trash just yet though. I wouldn't mind taking a look at it....too bad I'm on the other coast though.... :wtc:
