I picked up this coupe after moving to Charlotte NC and selling my fastback to my roommate. It had a blown ka and it was a bit dirty but I felt like it was the best base I could find locally for what would eventually be my DD.
Enter 1993 Coupe.

I didnt keep the xxr's or the Tein basics that were on it.

The engine bay was super gross and I later found that the car had been color changed atleast 5 times. Ridiculous.
https://i.imgur.com/XTHjSrS.jpg
Tore it all down and degreased it all.
https://i.imgur.com/trZeEgc.jpg
Laid down some Creamy Yellow paint and undercoated the front end.

https://i.imgur.com/NWRQZSq.jpg
Grabbed a s14 sr20de from an importer in NY with 17k km on the clock. Super clean and its been very healthy.
https://i.imgur.com/ZjE5w3n.jpg
Dropped it in, cleaned and painted every single component that went back into that bay. Basic SR swap. Used the stock s14 mounts. OEM header with shield. KA24de header lower half. Made a DOHC ka intake work and paired that with a RSR ExMag catback.

https://i.imgur.com/A2Kaknu.jpg?1
Put it all back together and enjoyed it for a little bit. KYB GR-2's and Intrax springs. Stock wheels. with some s14 seats. Biggest mistake I made, that I'll never do again, was plastidipping the car white. What a PITA.

Forward a bit, Picked up some coilovers, half and halfs, a pair of enkei 92's and an old Brix

https://i.imgur.com/DqRa4Z9.jpg

Added a Garage Defend lip and Chuki 180sx skirts.

Got a very good deal on a silvia front, grabbed a aero bumper and lowered it some more. Started drifting at the local event semi-regularly.

Had a snow day and got a little excited with my line. Ended up taking out a fence pole with my pass quarter.
https://i.imgur.com/q9Rqd02.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/mZU6ylH.jpg?1
https://i.imgur.com/6BydVGz.jpg
Cut and sealed the quarters and slapped on some overfenders.
Sold off the bumper to start piecing some aero
https://i.imgur.com/ZBk0Ops.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/qK9AVBx.jpg
Enter the aero phase. G corp rep front, TBO side skirts and Bomex bonneville rear
Never got the aero or the car properly painted. Shame.

At this point, I was nearing graduation and I needed some cash to relocate
back to South FL. So we enter the broke boi phase.
Sold off the front and the side skirts, kept the bomex rear, and prepped the car to make the drive back down to Miami. Yeah yeah, I know this shit looked terrible but such is life.
https://i.imgur.com/bqDmluY.jpg
Installed a OEM exhaust, got some fresh tires, swapped the whining j30 with a fresh open diff, and added a r32 wangan wing for a little flare.

Last day at work
https://i.imgur.com/KR7yMNL.jpg
Moved back to shitty South FL annd tore the car down for a suspension refresh and a repaint. Update to come. Thanks for sticking around!
TL;DR - This 240 is a piece of junk. Typical 240 owner.

Those TBO skirts look very similar to Bomex ones. Nice.
Jealous of the bonneville rear joint...someday...

They are essentially the same thing.
I've almost sold that bomex rear three different times, and I hesitated EVERY SINGLE TIME.
I'll try and update, with the current status of the car, later today.

Got situated back home and started to tear the car down. rear end needed work and I wasn't happy with the bodywork and lack of paint.
https://i.imgur.com/knMnkk1.jpg?1
Picked up some rocket bunny version 1 overs and hung them up for a quick test fit.
https://i.imgur.com/HtpnIzR.jpg?1
cut and welded a new rear lower section and test fit some more.
https://i.imgur.com/b1K43kW.jpg?1
Removed the rear end, painted the subframe, installed PBM risers, new booted heim joint arms and all that good stuff. Didn't take a picture of the finished subframe, I was just trying to stuff that shit back in there.
https://i.imgur.com/sN4lBPR.jpg?1
Gave it a wash and then removed the interior, prepped and painted the door jams.

So this is where were at now. East Bear front, Bomex sides, rear and mirrors.
I have a r32 wangan wing that I may modify and use but I'm leaning towards selling it and grabbing something else, as well using another bumper that I'll mock up this weekend. I'll update again when we shoot primer. reworking all the fiberglass so that all the panel fitment is spot on.

Picked up this weird bumper locally. All my research comes up as a nismo bumper. May or may not use it. We'll see what it looks like with some paint on it.
The interior has been stripped and prepped for paint. Update soon!

I like it man. It's pretty gutless down low but that just means you have to drive it harder. Plan is to build a header and a 2.5" exhaust, run a 50 shot and a 4.6 or 4.9 R&P. Should be plenty fun.

How about a kade header, and swap the head flange to an Sr flange. Should work great. Been looking for the Greddy Ka header to do exactly that lol.

Not a super huge update but I picked up a 3D printer recently and I've been going to town.
I removed all the AC and Heater components and didn't want to weld the holes shut so I printed some block offs that just snap in. Up next are some sunroof brackets and AC vent block offs for the dash. Still working on smoothing out the roof and the doors, should have the car in primer early February. Getting married on the 2nd of Feb and the car has taken a bit of a back burner. If anyone is interested in any of the block offs I make, I'd be happy to print some extras, just let me know!

If I didn't just have my machinist at work make me aluminum block off plates, I'd be all over those. Nice work. Definitely put those up for sale.
Edit: You should also make snap in plates for the triangles behind the strut towers. I didn't have any harnesses running through mine and it made my bay filthy. So I welded them shut.

Aluminum block off plates are sweet!
I'll print a couple of the block offs and put them up on the FS section, it's definitely cleaner to weld and smooth them but I'm sure someone might be interested in a easier solution. I'll look into making a plate for that triangular cut out. It is definitely an entry point for dirt and road grime. Thanks!

Don't have much of an update. Had a silvia front come up locally that I could not pass on. Scooped that up and slapped it on, still need to work out some dings but the headlights are literally brand new. Front bumper should be here tomorrow. Rear overs are pretty much hard mounted already, just need to smooth out the bomex rear valence and get everything primed.
I have also printed a couple of those HVAC block offs if anyone is interested in a set, PM me. I'll be printing random block offs and some sunroof delete brackets, I'll post them up in here once done.

Been a little while since I've updated. We have been steadily doing the bodywork on the car. I have some experience with fiberglass work and small dents but I have never took on this scale of bodywork. It is extremely tedious!
I took the day today to pull the windshield and lay down some primer. By now the rear over fenders have been riveted on and the car was raised about 2" all around to allow for some clearance.
First thing was to get the windshield removed. Was a bit of a PITA but with some choice words and some elbow grease it made its way to the trash bin.
https://i.imgur.com/BEBoAig.jpg?1
Found some surface rust underneath the sealer that needed to be addressed. Took the wire wheel to it and sprayed on some rust preventing primer.
https://i.imgur.com/6JwJdt6.jpg?1
https://i.imgur.com/AuBQkIo.jpg?1
After that was done we went ahead and got the car all masked up and ready for the primer.
https://i.imgur.com/7WK2XKE.jpg?1
Spent the rest of the night laying down the primer. I am using European coatings high build primer and it has laid down very nice and covered quite a bit.

It'll dry for 24-48 hrs. next up is to finish fixing the bomex rear valence and prime all of the aero. Then some block sanding and wet sanding and we should be good for paint.

Small update. Wired in a keyless entry setup and shaved the key cylinder on my door handles. 3D printed a plug and epoxied it in on the backside of the handle.
https://i.imgur.com/hbOpO7C.jpg?1
Started messing around with the ride height and tested different wheels. Pictured below is 15x9 -15 with a 195/55. Will probably end up with a 0 offset up front and keep the -15 in the rear with a bit more camber. Wheels are all going out for sandblasting next week.
https://i.imgur.com/AK1CQyU.jpg?1
Finished the glass/filler work on the aero and shot some primer. Started hard mounting it all to make sure the fitment is spot on. Waiting on the final aero piece to show up from the motherland.
https://i.imgur.com/oRiV0ri.jpg?1
Heading to Japan for two weeks at the end of the month. Car is scheduled for paint the weekend I return. Its crunch time for this bodywork!

I have the same setup going in my 240sx coupe. S14 sr20de, hks 264's. nismo headgasket, ka24de header, 2.5 exhaust and zex 55 wet shot. One of the exhaust studs had to be cut short to not interfere with one of the runners.

Got some new rubber for my front tires. Mounted them up to make sure they would clear the fenders. No issues there. The wheels will be painted another color.

Finally got the chassis and all the aero prepped for paint. Gave it all a final clean before masking the car and spraying it.
https://i.imgur.com/nnZNsQG.jpg?1
https://i.imgur.com/B8gCAPD.jpg?1
Started laying down the paint. We did our best to make a draft in the warehouse. It actually worked better than I expected. It was definitely a long night.

I chose to go with S13 Lavender Frost. Seems to be a bit darker than OE lavender but it brightens up in the sunlight.

I started to slowly bolt stuff back on. Hardmounted the sunroof glass with some brackets I 3D printed. I'll grab some pictures of that as well. Next update I hope to have the interior in and have it all assembled. Getting close to driving it again and I miss it!

Another small update, car is nearing completion!
I am taking way too much time with the small details which, as I'm sure most of you know, takes forever.
I am currently in the process of reupholstering and installing the interior. But I was able to mount the aero and lower the car a bit. Wheels will get refinished this weekend, along with sending out some SSR's for widening.

https://i.imgur.com/ZTruTGN.jpg?1
I also picked up some headlights from Jimmy that were damaged. Took my bricks as a reference and modeled/Printed these replacement brackets. I still had some material on the headlight which allowed me to bolt the bracket to the headlight. Mounted up perfect and its pretty rigid. I will have these available for sale soon!
https://i.imgur.com/uV196WF.jpg?1
https://i.imgur.com/wR7ghOW.jpg?1
I have also been working on iterations of my radiator brackets and firewall plugs which you can see in the picture below. Not done with those yet. I also picked up a TAARKS ps relocation bracket and installed a oversized oil pan. That PS bracket is pretty cool!
https://i.imgur.com/1F26s9o.jpg?1
Last thing, I've been hoarding this wing that I can't find any info on. Definitely looks like a r32 wing of some sort. Tossed it on there to get a visual. Still unsure of it, but we'll see.

Man, these past couple of weeks have been crazy!
Couple of weeks before finalbout, I decided I wanted to change out the RB overs for a flat OEM style "overfender", because you know, I'm an indecisive pos. This set me up with more bodywork.... again.
So off we went,
https://i.imgur.com/wLV4bgX.jpg?1
https://i.imgur.com/mQb1qWo.jpg?1
https://i.imgur.com/KvPNGxE.jpg?1
I wanted to gear the car toward what I had envisioned initially. Sooo I contacted Streeter and picked up some period correct wheels.
https://i.imgur.com/KXRFa1l.jpg?1
At this point, we had set a private track day for the 9th of June, and I was about two weeks out. So I began to tackle all of the small things that I needed to finish the car up. This this hadnt been turned over since May of 2017.
Got all of the engine buttoned up. Silicone hoses throughout, thermal IM gasket, fresh seals, etc.
https://i.imgur.com/LwUbhdk.jpg?1
Got the interior started, still need to design some block off plates and such.
https://i.imgur.com/F6r6L10.jpg?1
Got the car started up, made sure there were no leaks and drove it around for the first time in 2 years.
https://i.imgur.com/XTH7sYv.jpg?1
Grabbed a quick alignment and we were ready to test the car.
https://i.imgur.com/fn7Bt5N.jpg?1
Headed out looking pretty good.
https://i.imgur.com/PhhrJbK.jpg?1
But I suck, so that didn't last too long.
https://i.imgur.com/xCDrZQO.jpg?1
Pulled the bumper off and continued with the day.

Made it home and I had to try to get it looking half decent again.

The car drives soooo good. Such a simple setup but it is effective.
- GKTECH v2 RC kit

I have it set to the one furthest from the balljoint and the car feels great. I do still have the stock steering stops in place, might have to cut those off.

Rode around on the Pro Racers for a while, then came across some model 6's locally and had to have them.
Set them up with a 215/40 RS-R front and 235/40 595SS rear.
17x9 +40 with a 25mm spacer, square.

Then I got the chance to pick up the only set of wheels anyone should ever keep stashed forever. These definitely put a dent in my engine plans for the rest of the year but I couldn't let them pass.

Keeping busy refitting all of the interior pieces. Installed some kicker door speakers and a dual din headunit. I have also started piecing together a turbo kit for the NA SR20. Simple t25/370/93 pump gas setup. I will get to that at some point!

Not much happening with the car as of yet. Had to replace the 4.6 diff with a stock ratio diff because the 4.6 whines so much that it is unbearable to drive. There is some play in the pinion so I am sure the shop that did the work did not set the pinion height correctly. I'll be tearing apart the 4.6 to redo it all.
Installed a coverlay and finished painting/installing the rest of the interior pieces that I will be running. Dont mind the center console, I will be painting that soon. Working on prototyping a hvac block off plate that bolts to the trim piece.

Pulled the roll center correction kit because the added track width didn't look right to me, I will be purchasing drop knuckles soon.

Waiting on a s14 K's wing to arrive. Ill be fixing some bumper damage and repainting some panels on the car.
I plan to refit the 4.6 soon, make an exhaust for the car, and just keep enjoying it.
Slowly working on collecting everything I will need for a simple t25 setup but that will happen sometime next year.

Decided that since buying my first s-chassis in feb, it’s about time i joined Zilvia to look for some stateside parts. So i’m scrolling through the builds thread and yours caught my eye. It wasn’t until i was 10 mins into reading it that i saw you bought a 3d printer.. i then noticed your signature and it all clicked. Small world indeed! Thank you!
Not many updates as of yet.
Picked up tooling to redo the pinion height on my 4.6 diff. Still need to get that done.
Redid the paint on the overfenders. Giving them time to cure before I buff the whole car, it needs it bad.
Picked up some gktech knuckles and tension rods. Going to be pairing those with some s14 lcas.
Other than that, the cars been good to me. Going to focus on the little things so that it is reliable for next year. Once thats done, I will start to accumulate what I need for a Na-T setup.

Thanks!
I'll eventually grab some aftermarket taillights and swap between them :D
Got the new front suspension installed this week. Car is still on stands peinding a nut and bolt check.
Front setup:
- GKtech drift/grip knuckle
- GKtech clearance tension rod
- GKtech offset rack spacer
- s14 LCA
- GKtech inner tie rod with MOOG s14 outer
Still have to clearance some things to make room for the additional steering angle. The wheel is super close to the OEM swaybar at full lock. Like, scary close. I may end up removing it and purchasing an adjustable bar.
Figured I'd give the offset rack spacers a try. I know all about the horror stories with bending racks, but this car does not see very much track time.
If I experience any issues with them, I will move my rack up.
I'll grab some pictures today and update later. Still have to fix my diff, replace an axle and figure out why my ebrake sucks.

FWIW I don't have overcentering issues using just PBM eccentric rack bushings. I have Dang Drifters knuckles and chopped off bumpstops on extended LCA's. Lock is limited by the knuckle meeting the stop-less arm, and the car has plenty of angle.
Just something to keep in mind, I've destroyed a rack and the offset spacer itself running them.

Hmm. I did chop off the steering stop as well.
Were you out drifitng when you destroyed the rack?
From reading different stories about these, The lateral force from driving the car and steering it side to side shouldnt be enough to bend the rack. The bending should be from either a dirt drop or hitting something that would load the tierod inward toward the rack and effectively bend it because of the displaced load path to the rack.
That was my determination for running them, but I'd love to hear what happened to your rack. I may just grab some eccentric bushings and try that out.

For what its also worth, (I have 0 experience with this) I've heard horror stories about those PBM bushings and the rack itself sliding in the bushings from the aluminum not having enough clamping force.
That being said, this was some years ago at this point. They may not have been the eccentric bushings, PBM may have manufactured OEM style solid bushings that was causing the issue. Daigle switched out the bushings to ES poly bushings and never had that issue again. If this is an actual concern, I'll reach out to him and get the definitive info.

PBM bushings
you just gotta make sure the rack is clean then put some locktite on the contact surface where the bushings meet the rack, let it cure for a reasonable amount of time, and torque it down real good. i've had them on my coupe for 6 years with no issues :l101:

With the slight compression bump of the NA pistons you really should just jump up to a T28 for your NA-T setup. Should spool just as quick as a t25 det but have the extra breathing room up top.

Yeah, I have been looking into that.
I picked up a t25 and a manifold super cheap and figured I would start there but I had intended to run e85 (its abundant down here) and even at low boost levels the t28 might be a better option. I may look into doing a EWG (not that I would really need it with the NA internals and the mechanical limitations) on the stock manifold and run a turbo that I can possibly still use in the future when I slap some forged internals in it.

Honestly the T25 is just a waste of time if you ever plan to upgrade. It's too small, has terrible efficiency, and makes a shit ton of heat. Gen II GTX2860R is the last bolt on turbo you will ever need. No restrictive bolted on turbo inlets, no goofy outlets with adapters and tiny intercooler pipes, etc.
Also when you're tired of re-tightening manifold to turbo nuts all the time, you can just swap turbine housings and run a proper top mount manifold and never have to worry about leaks again. That's my :2c:

It was during a slight dirt drop while drifting. Split the rack like a banana peel. Albeit less dramatic. The drop wasn't violent, but if I have a part on my car that is going to hold me back from pushing myself due to fear that it will have collateral damage in case of a small mistake, I'm going to avoid using it.
Also glad I brought up the eccentric bushings. Never heard of anything adverse happening with those, but I will definitely take note during this winter off season rebuild. Is Loctite really a good solution for flat clamped surfaces?

Man I wish they would just offer a T2/5-Bolt turbine housing for the G25-550. Sure it would restrict the power potential, but for people wanting 3-400hp with newer turbo tech it would be perfect.

Had a private day at a local skidpad this past weekend. We gathered some of the best s chassis examples that FL has to offer. It was definitely awesome finally putting faces to the screen names that I've had the pleasure of exchanging words with. Great group of people and I can not wait to do it again!
Started the week prior to the event with a bit of a refresher. Got the diff apart to try and correct the ring and pinion situation. Mearsured the the backlash to be 30 thou, fsm calls for 4-6 thou LOL. I was able to finesse it down to 20 thou but I am weary that it was installed with the wrong side load washers along with the pinion height washer. So i stuffed some 145w in it prayed for the best.
https://i.imgur.com/5vPttLf.jpg?1
Got some oem axles (remaned joints were clicking), and some EBC yellows for the rear. Mounted some tires and hit the road.
https://i.imgur.com/rAFSjcU.jpg
Went for a little testing session with @nightdrive.official. The car is basically driving itself at this point. The gktech front end feels amazing. No steering bind, no issues at all.
https://i.imgur.com/2wp7mIA.jpg
The car definitely needs more power though, even with the 4.6 R&P I find myself clutch kicking often. Going to try to squeeze a bit more power out of it with a header/exhaust setup and possibly a 50 shot of nitrous. Should be enough to hold me over until the turbo setup is complete.
I will update with more pictures from the event later, but here is one shot by @hb_s13.
Theres some more pictures and videos from the event on the @garage.emperor IG.

Damn, it's been a while.
Not a whole lot has changed with the car. Still slowly accumulating all of the turbo parts. So far we have gathered a s14 t28, a complete hot side, some defi's and other odds and ends. still missing a fmic, injectors, and a means of tuning.
As far as the car goes,
Tried on some strusse's my buddy has laying around, definitely going to try to grab some 3pc chrome wheels for this at some point.
https://i.imgur.com/4DTou6f.jpg
Also grabbed some 17x9.5 RG1's.
https://i.imgur.com/C66iFo1.jpg

Ended up grabbing some gktech adjustable flcas. So now the front end is completely gktech LOL. Also threw on some Fortune Auto 510's with 7/6k springs and HOLY SHIT THE DIFFERENCE IS INSANE. Car feels so much smoother now.
Had the chance to test it out at a private day at osw on the 25th of last month. Added some vinyl to the car, toe plated it and took it to the skid pad. Had a great time. Only issue i had with the car was a sticky pass rear caliper, just meant i had to drive without the ebrake. other than that, zero issues.
This thing is ready for some boost!

I bought them second hand but NIB back 7-8 years ago. I initially thought I had too much preload so I backed them all off too barely any tension. They are Fortune 500 series, IDK if they need to be revalved to work with these springs or what. I also have adjustable arms with heim joints and subframe risers, so I guess it's pretty stiff there.
I'd really like to take it to a racing suspension shop and get it looked over by a pro, but that's a two hour drive and hundreds of dollars for a car I drive once every two months.

Those RG1's look so damn nice... Probably my favorite combo, so far.
Are they GTR offset (+14)?
Oh my, those RG's look insane!
Interested to see how the DE+T goes with an S14 SR, any particular power level you are shooting for once you get all of the parts together?
