Hello, first post on this forum, but my issue is a bit unique so I have not found any good information from other forums and my size restraints are a bit different than a silvia. I have a datsun 510 that I am fitting a s13 SR20DET into with a goal HP of 450ish hp. I already have forged internals and H beam rods as well as other support mods like BC stage 2 cams as well as stiffer valve springs and adjustable cam gears. I see a lot of people recommending solid lifters for this HP, but my question and concern is that I am still planning on this being a street car. Will solid lifters require a check of the lash gap far more frequently? But the meat of my question is what sort of sized intercoolers people are running with around 450+ hp? I have some size constraints and specialized 510 intercoolers are either stupid expensive or made by CXracing which I want to avoid. Any suggested sizes? I plan on running water/meth injection to get PSI even higher so I suppose turbo size/models would be beneficial as well. My last 510 was a classic L series build so this will be my first turbo engine build.

Just run a cxracing intercooler. I run one on my built ka with no issues. Is it the worlds greatest intercooler? No.
The issue with this is there is 0 data to show why say a greddy or a treadstone one is any better or worse than a cxracing, godspeed, etc.

I wouldn't settle for anything less than an ISR core. Simply because the warranty and customer service via Enjuku. However, Greddy and Blitz both off entry level intercoolers that are comparable in pricing but quality of welds and bar/plate design.

Personally id try to find a core from garrett/atp/vibrant and get end tanks welded up by a local fabricator so that it fits your setup best and meets your hp rating comfortably

Dude, Mishimoto. There are a ton of options, lifetime warranty, and quality.
These blackfriday weekend prices are crazy low. Do it.

I appreciate the information. Still, does anyone have usual sizes used in 450ish hp cars? I am not sure how to do the equation to get the right size.

this big. although its more about ambient temperatures and efficiency.
I would aim for decent ducting and try to eliminate air being able to flow around the cooler/radiator.
