I actually agree somewhat, quit calling it S13 and S14, because they're nothing like their JDM Silvia counterparts, other than body.
Dumb people. That's were the name comes from, the body. I have S14 Stamped on my car So, I can call it a S14. These are the same people that rattle off DC5, EK, EG like it's nothing. They're hatting on the fact that we only have to remember 2 codes.

S13 and S14 just refers to the chassis code. As is DC2 (2nd gen Teg) or DC5 (RSX), you could say that's only for JDM TYTEness....

In the USA the 89-93' 240SX hatch and coupe's chassis code is S13
as is the 94' convertible.
The 95-98 240SX both Zenki and Kouki's chassis code is S14.


This has nothing to do with being Japanese. Also the KA24DE is NOT a truck motor. Yes, it was used in the Nissan Hardbody because of it's torquey nature and great reliability.
You could also say that the VQ35 is a truck motor because it's found in the Pathfinder, FX35 and also in the G35/350Z...
There have been a few examples of the KA making over 400whp on a stock bottom end. It's not as bad of a motor as everyone makes it out to be.

EDIT: I would have to say that the outcome of the race between a Base RSX and a 240sx depends on the model year and overall condition of the particular vehicle in question.
An SOHC S13 would most likely lose while the DOHC counterpart would win.

yeah, two different cars though, DC5 R are newer and cost more, and tuned towards race from the factory, s14 silvia in stock form is not impressive and tuned conseritvely, however simple mods like down pipe, test pipe and 3 inch exhaust and i would say it would beat a rsx type r in straight line, but who cares about straight lines right?

HS13 = SOHC Coupe
MS13 = DOHC Coupe
S13 = SR20DE Coupe
PS13 = SR20DET Coupe

add K for HICAS
add H for SOHC
add D for DOHC
add P for SR20DET
s13 refers to the chassis itself, the rets is a matter of the engine, body style, possible HICAS

i have no idea what a convertable would be, most likly a MS13 maybe theres a special letter for a vert, iunno.

but honestly its just a 240 turbo. its not hard, nissan has a very linear code system.

also a DC2 is only Type R and GSR, DC4 is the lower models of the 2dr variety like LS, GS, RS.

far as i know P is the designation for Turbo ie SR20DET.
the codes without H, M or P is a CA.
