my engine is making a lot of blow-by smoke, so i unhooked that hose from the intake. eventually i want a catch can, but in the meantime i was just letting the smoke out into the engine bay, and it would smoke visibly at idle. today when i got to school it was still smoking after i turned it off, so i investigated. my exhaust mani was on fire!! with big yellow flames!!! i guess some oil condensed and dripped onto it and the heat ignited it. so then i went to the store and got some hose. now the blow-by vents to the right front wheel well.
hooray!

I think its the other hose that's still hooked up to the intake...

the fire went out by itself after a little bit. i was scurred though. i said "oh noes!"

the other hose that's still on the intake is for idle... nothing to do with blow-by

so now...u letting the oil fumes getting to the wheels wells huh?? that sound "VERY SAFE!!!!" (hint)
ur engine obviously have some problem..if its blowing smoke thru the hose from the valve cover.
check ur engine operation don't just cover it with something else....or u will end up with some other major problem......just my .02

Ok there you go, that's what you should do, fix that ish! My car was going that.... and it ended up being that the spark plug gromet gaskets went out. Check your spark plugs.... if they are covered in oil when you take them out..... yup, you have the same problem.

My engine was on fire once.
I forgot to put the cap back on after filling up the oil.
Bingo bango about 2 miles later I pulled over and my mani was in flames.
Died out by itself, but i didnt think about peeing on it.

That's the little hose on the bottom(for idle). The red hose that comes from under your intake mani is for evap.

Yep...they sure are...reminds me of the time I went to a drift day event at California Speedway....I see a bunch of guys jumping up & down running around like crazy..then I see the smoke billowing out from underneath the hood of one of the cars that just came off the track. Try as they might, no one was able to get the attention of the firecrew guys sitting in their pit truck a couple hundred feet away. After about 2 minutes, one of the fire guys notice us yelling & waving at him pointing at the car that was about to erupt in flames. Well...by the time he got there the fire was out....funny thing was, it went out by itself...but not at the expense of frying the heck out of the owners wiring harness...thing was toast....car didn't run that day.

Funny how no one bothered to take an extinguisher that day..especially with everyone running the track all knew that catch cans have tendencies to either leak or blow lines & catch fire.....go figure eh?...
