So i was finally getting around to installing my ebrake cables that i have had laying around. Car is a s13 coupe with what i thought was 300zx 5 lug and brakes all around. My ebrake has never worked since i bought the car. Well i ran into a different ebrake assembly than ive ever seen... My cables dont work... Any idea what car this ebrake assembly came on. I bought the car like this....

Do you have any pics of where the cable enters the dust shield on the back side? My understanding was that J30 spindles would fit s-chassis and work with z32 brakes, but the assembly parts were actually different.

Also, what part of your cables don't work? Do they not bolt up to the ebrake, are the cables too short, or what?

the cable enters from the back of the assembly. It was just cut. The end of my cables where they hook up in the ebrake assembly will not work with this ebrake assembly. the connection point for the cable is completely different.... Ive been searching and havent come across an assembly that looks like mine..... Very strange

I believe they may be from a j30.... Any chance the j30 cables work on an s13?

300zx drum brakes.
You need to buy z32 2+2 cables, make brackets to mount the z32 cables further back and connect them to the T from the s13 ebrake handle.

those are DEF NOT z32 ebrake
so what cables do you have? you may need to get j30 cables, and splice the end, similar to this thread

i have the 2+2 cables.....they dont work. The issue is there the cable connects inside the ebrake assembly. My setup using some sort of lever mechanism so the end of the cable needs to have a hole and pin to connect it... Here are some pics for reference..

Seems like i need the j30 cables which are the top pic.
300zx is the bottom pic..

Now just need to know if the j30 cables work in an s13...

I have the stock s13 cables..I have the cable end coming out of the j30 ebrake assemble cut about 8" out of the assembly and i have 300zx 2+2 cables that i purchased thinking i had 300 zx ebrakes... Splicing the cables would work perfectly just wish that thread had pics.

Splice might be your only option at this point. This article should give you an idea of what's involved (at least the pics still work). http://importnut.net/300zxbrakeswap-ebrake.htm

Those are definitely not z32 brakes, i just did mine yesterday on my s14 running r33 brembos, e brake is the same as the z32; from some rears i picked up at the junk yard (5 lug hubs, knuckles, and backplates up for grabs) the upper support brackets or dog as called by nissan is completely different, i used a set of r33 cables , they bolt right in with no splicing, to my understanding the z32 2.2 cables will fit the s13 chassis.
