Hey all,

Is there an exemption for emissions in King County for cars that are older than 25 years old? I was readng the DOL site and another site but it wasn't very clear (I mean, it makes sense but i just need to make sure my dreams aren't interfering with reality):
From emissiontestwa.com:

Nope. It'll have to be tested.

I've never had to get any of my 240's tested. Worst case, register it in Kittitas county!

Oh damn. You're right. 25 years and older are exempt.

Ok so King county registered cars might not require smog
Kittitas county no smog. But you'll need to love there no?

Same goes for JDM imports in having to follow smog?

I'm from California so that's why I have these questions.

I should call and find out

In my experience, all cars, both imported and not, will not need an emissions test once they are 25 years or older.

If you register you car on a year that lands a multiple of 2 away from it being 25 years old (example, a 1993 240sx registered in 2014, you will need emissions that year, and then the next year, 2016. But since the car is exempt in 2018, you will not need to have it tested). It's pretty much a loophole to avoiding your last emissions test
