Hey guys, so just bought a $800 S13 SR. The engine has water in all cylinders. Not a massive amount, turns freely by hand effortlessly, you can see a slight orange color but nothing major. My question is, what the best route to go? I have a break bleeder tool to drain the water. but what should I do about the rust. Will it just burn off? Will attach pictures of the slight discoloration later when i'm home.
Anyone will water in engine experience :keke:

Sooo no? :-/
You need to pull it apart and depending how severe the rust is, it might need .010 taken from the cylinder walls

get pictures. where did the water come from? was it like sitting out in the rain?
if it spins freely you can send it. if you hone you can send it
thinks to look for are the crosshatching. is there signs of severe scuffing? at this point your mostly looking for evidence of the age and mileage of the engine just to get an idea of what its history was like. (obviously you dont want to run a cracked/fucked engine)
But my biggest question is why and how the water got there

have machine shop inspect engine...let them know what happened, however, take it apart yourself to save some cost as reassembly isn't that hard...putting pistons in is the hardest...let them measure everything and check it against current pistons/crank etc and see if you need to go +1 on bearings/pistons etc...if it spins freely may just be surface rust and you can clean it with some good lacquer thinner/brake clean or your choice of chemical that doesn't leave residue...that's a good buy if it only was left open and theres no damage tho!

Was the engine sitting outside, uncovered? Or is there a reason it is filled with water. . . ? Details man!
You're better off taking it to a machine shop and getting them to check it out.

You have an engine that's outside of your car... strip it down and fix it as needed lol. You're going to hate yourself big time if you slap it in and things go bad knowing you had the chance to address the issues easily before.
Did they just leave it in the rain with no plugs?
