Hello everyone I have a 91 coupe that I was in the process of going through the motor for brand new valve guides and seats, decked head, timing chain, water pump, plugs, clutch etc. but now a Ls6 fell into my lap. My question is I'm in California and obvious smog is an issue. I know there's and e rod motor but that is expensive and I don't already own one. However I have seen the factory manifolds run on 240's with the Erod. So is a ls6 manifold the same or very similar to a ls3 so that I can run a factory manifold to get it refereed? And does gm sell the catalytic converter section like they include with the Erod engine seprate so I can purchase that and fabricate the rest of my exhaust? Thanks in advance.

All LS engines will bolt together using all versions for the most part. Meaning yes you can run LS6 headers on an LS3, you can even use LS7 headgaskets, LS1 accessory drive components, LS6 valve springs and retainers, so on and so forth.

Chevy built these engine ingeniously simple and kept cost down reliability up.

I run a c6 corvette header on the driver side and a camaro passenger. Just have to massage the frame rail on the c6 side slightly. You can modify the factory cats easily to fit as well. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170526/c6e47ae8437c304cd94410955f845d29.jpg
