I have a completely stock RB25. Motor is used in my drift car only, that being said when I purchased it I installed a new timing belt. Greddy one, I made sure I could twist the belt 45 degrees so I wasn't too tight or too loose. Car runs fantastic BUT at low idle it will have this squeak coming from the belt area? Any idea what this is? Or if I should worry? When I get the RPMs up it goes away. Just wanting to know what's going on before I push more power. Thanks for the help.

That was my original thought so I checked again and unless it needs to be more than 45 degrees than it's good

No I did not. Would this cause it to squeak at low idle only ?

Very possible, If the bearing was failing it could make noise. If you pull the belt back off, spin both idlers, they should give some resistance when you spin them, if they spin freely like a skateboard wheel would or you can feel more resistance at a certain point you need to replace both. I'd also suggest you replace the bolt that holds the stationary idler in place, they are known to snap.

Is it possible to check without pulling the belt? Or do you know of an easier way to do it except pulling the harmonic pulley

Put the motor at TDC, remove tension from the belt, pull the belt off the cam gears, spin both idlers. You'll need both front timing covers off to do it. Make sure that you realign the belt before you put it back on too.

Alright man I'll get on that. Any idea how far you should be able to turn the belt?

Usually I make sure I can't twist it completely parallel to the front of the motor, but there is a find line between too tight and too loose, its hard to explain typing. Really don't think it is an issue with the belt being too tight, usually a super tight belt will whine at all rpm
