ive been searching here and google about these which has resulted in conflicting information.

are the TT and N/A ones actually the same? the actual housings not the end gear?

one has a blue gear on the end =?

one has a red gear on the end =?

one has 20 teeth =?

one has 18 teeth =?

the reason for asking is I want to put one in an R33 rb25 gearbox as my speedo is reading at roughly half actual speed. so Im under the impression I need to fit a z32 n/a sender. but it looks like the actual sender is the same (the r33 has the red gear on the end).

No, the sensors are unique.

Not sure, but the gears are unique too. They must go with the corresponding sensor they are meant for. Contrary to some internet information, you cannot swap gears across sensors.

See responses above. The Z32 speed sensors and gear, together, are interchangeable, but will read the speed assuming you have the NA or TT differential, respectively. So whatever sensor & gear you're using should match the correct diff. The TT diff is 3.69. The NA diff is 4.08.

I do not know the interchangeability of the Z32 sensors on the RB25 gearboxes. But if you know your diff ratio, you at least know which one to try.

the car is an s13 with an Sr20 engine with an rb25 gearbox, with CA180DET clocks with a 4,3 diff ratio. so its a total 'mish-mash' of a car.

the problem is that the clocks under read by roughly half the speed.so I wanted to see if any of you 300zx guys had fitted the wrong speed sensors before and what the results 'if any' were.

like putting a NA speed sensor onto a car with a TT diff

You can get a signal manipulator to change the output to match the speed set via GPS. Dakota digital makes one. There is also another route which requires an adjustment and some soldering on the factory speedo circuit board. Do some searching on speedo calibration/adjustment on this forum. I can't recall exactly what sub-forum it's under on here.

^^ I put one of those Dakota digital converters on a different car I built a few years back and I could never get it to read accurately across the entire speed range. I found that If I made it accurate on the lower speeds (20/30mph) then at the upper speeds 70/100mph.

ive seen the 'jumpers' on the rear of JDM s14 dash clocks you can move to change the reading but not on the s13 clocks. I did read somewhere that s13 clocks had a potentiometer inside you could adjust but the last set of clocks I took apart broke so I was reluctant to strip these ones down.

I'm not sure how you had it wired, but I've had mine in for years and it reads accurately throughout the MPH range. It was installed on an old speed sensor and the new one without issue.

was probably just me then.. I ran it off one of the front ABS signals as I figured it would give me actual speed when drifting and not just rear wheel speed.
