I'm new to this thread. I have been a GTR owner and currently still am. I just picked up a 1990 sx se in red manual with 42 k miles on it for a price you would not believe. Owned by a grandma and sat in the garage for the past 14 years. Now that I own it my thoughts were to build the KA motor from the bottom up add a turbo because I am aiming to hit a minimum power range of 500 whp. So I will be doing the whole car and will add a rocket bunny body kit to the car when the motor turbo exhaust 5 lug conversion and etc is complete.. so just wanted to gather some info as I am new to the 240 team. Also any recommendations as to what shop I should consider to do the work? I installed a new fuel pump yesterday and the car started up instantly. So any help would be great guys. Thank you.

Why build such a fresh motor? I have a spare ka24 that is already disassembled. Was going to build it up to handle around 600hp, but haven't had the time. I'll trade you for the low-mileage motor you have, because the ka I'm running now has around 260k.

I own a 2015 black edition FBO E-85 with 1100x boost logic set up. I have nothin else to do with that car which makes insane whp. So I figured since I picked this car up for $500 why not build it. I like the idea of building the stock block with all forged internals put a borg warner turbo on hit hit 500 plus whp and see what it can do. I currently have no projects and figure this will be a cheap build compared to the GTR parts. Also I think it will be cool to bring these two together to some car shows. Both being Nissan's.

Sell the car to someone who will preserve it. There are plenty of people looking for low mile 240SXs in good condition, and they will pay a good amount of money. If you got it for a steal you can easily make a profit on it. Buy another 240 that needs some work since you'll probably replace anything with damage when you modify it.

It's just an idea. A lot of people are I see are putting doing swaps to different motors I want to keep the original motor build the 4xyl with the turbo and smack around my brothers stock Audi R8. I think he will be upset that a 1990 240 whips his 2014 R8 v10. Don't you?

I agree. Well if anybody is interested in buying it let me know. It's completely stock runs great no rust on the 1990 240 sx se. It's a one owner car driven by an older woman. Did I mention that it is manual as well.

$500, wow that's awesome!! I'd LOVE a new low-mileage car to move my current parts over. My KA has a bb turbonetics t304 that is running around 17lbs right now. That kind of money I wouldn't be interested to sell i would just build the car put a rocket bunny kit on it after all motor work and call it a day. I'm sure I would be able to smash a couple of GTR out there that are stock when I'm done with it.

I'd try tapatalk if you have it. Much better luck posting pics. I agree it would be a beast when finished. With all that power you're going to want to reinforce the frame to keep it tight for the long haul. If you are planning on putting down more than 500, you'd be better off finding a caged shell and working with that. One of me dreams is to put an original rocket bunny kit with a twin-charged LS motor. Would look and sound like an absolute animal lol

It's a car from the early 90s... not like there is an overabundance of widebody options. True, the 6666/LS combo has been done plenty of times, but there's a reason they go well together.

The original rocket bunny is one of the most iconic kits for the 240, especially if you're putting down enough power to warrant wheels that are wide enough to fit properly. True, there are other kits that look just as nice, but if you're a fan of the widebody look, the options are limited. 50mm overfenders that leave the lower half of the wheel exposed look FAR worse in my opinion. I have Origin tatakidashi fenders in the rear and they look good, but still, you're dealing with the lower half of the tires poking out, which causes dirt spray that looks terrible if you don't wash your car every day.

It's your car so build whatever you like, but my personal direction for that car would be a mild build, maybe keep the exterior stock (OG Paint, etc) with built suspension, ~400whp, and some nice wheels that fit under stock body. The sound of an RB is hard to beat, but it isn't the easiest motor to get parts for, etc in the states.

I second that. RBs are sexy motors, but parts aren't so easy to pick up locally. I was going to go RB25, but decided to go KA-T instead. Putting about 320 to the wheels reliably with around 20mpg.

LEE that's exactly what I was thinking.... exact.. Found some shops like McKinley in California who has a lot of parts for the rb. What about the motors from Japan depot are they reliable? Going with the 25 neo manual just seems much easier to swap in with the motor trans combo. I guess getting that motor I could even build it as well as parts for it are not that expensive.. especially cause now I will be saving a lot of money without painting the car or touching the interior. 1JZ or 2j was an option but I think I rather keep the car all Nissan and not mix match body and motor. But doing motor stock interior stock exterior besides suspension and wheels is what I am leaning towards now heavily. Will building the rb25 get me power levels achievable of 500 whp?

I haven't had any personal experience with RB's, or any of the importers/builders, etc. Somebody else will have to chime in on that.
Another viable Nissan option would be a built dual cam KA-T or an SR with a CD009 6 speed. Pro's and cons to both motors that people will argue about all day.

Going to send the car down to raw brokerage to have a complete motor build and swap. I will also be ordering suspension parts from them and will do all that work myself. Before it goes down there I want to have all suspension done as well as the 5 lug conversion kit and will most likely sit on a set of rays wheels. When it goes down there they will build a crate motor which is on there web site. That is the plan and I will keep the body as is. No body mods will be done to the car nor will the interior be touched with.

Owner is never gonna finish through on this project. Better sell this car to someone who can appreciate it. Too bad you're in Jersey too, I know people who would appreciate this car and not fuck it up

This jack trips over an easy one and I'm over here with 320k on a chassis and into my third swap because I can't let the car go... Figures.

What do you mean? Japan has a TON of sick cars that were don't have in the states. If I was still over there, a 180 would be towards the bottom of my wish list.
I meant to say *no decent 180SXs.
I know what I want. I'm not a dick rider. I'm not going to hop into an R32 because I'm here, I'm not going to pretend I've always had an affinity for Chasers or Mark IIs. That's the problem with most of the fucking morons out here: they just adopt the "I'm in Japan, fuck it" logic and buy cars they know nothing about and fucking ruin them. Perfect transition back to OP:
To each there own.. when all is said and done and the car is complete I guess we will just see.
Hey, you asked. You sound like a douche. Why not throw in an SR? You could build the mother of all SRs on your RB budget. Do you want to know why people are calling you a douche? You said 'RB swap' and 'RocketBunny' because you were LUCKY enough to find a mint car for cheap. Our community dismantles and destroys these fucking cars at an alarming rate. You found a PERFECT one to 'ruin' when you could just buy a 'so-so' one to tinker on.
RB and RocketBunny? Sounds like every fuckboy's masturbatory 'dream build'.
For fuck's sake, PLEASE sell it to someone or trade them or something.
