Every time i start my car on cold start the car never idles high. I've swapped 2 different iacv and still have the same problem. Now the car goes up to about 1500 and then just drops to normal idle immediately. Any one have any ideas? No vacuum leaks, proper voltage at connectors, proper ohm's and voltage at air regulator connector, only thing i haven't changed is the air regulator because it looks hard to get to.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the iacv is a "heat-controlled" unit, designed to raise the idle in cold weather by opening a valve, allowing more air in; which helps get the engine up to proper operating temperature faster. Once warm the valve allows less air in, lowering the idle. Again, most useful in colder weather.

If everything is correct (voltages, no air leaks, and you have adjusted the adjustment screw on the iacv according to the FSM) and if your in a warmer weather climate, my guess is that it is working properly.

There are SO many areas for air to escape in an OEM KA24de intake manifold. I'm trying to figure out some idle issues of my own. My iacv adjustment screw is plastic and it was stripped so I tried to compensate this by adjusting the throttle adjustment screw- I would NOT recommend this though because now my idle is always high (900-1K RPM).

I changed the air regulator along with the top part of the intake manifold today becuase i had a spare manifold with everything on it. Put new gaskets and it still seems to be doing the same thing. I don't know what to look at next.
