I recently bought this car from another owner a couple months ago in hopes to make it a project, but with school, work, and tuition bills, I don't have the time and or money to fully invest into it.
PLEASE READ IN ITS ENTIRETY.
I will be completely clear about all the issues I am aware of. This list may seem large as I list ALL things you would want to know beforehand. Will not try to hide any imperfections or issues that I'm aware of.
1992 Nissan 240sx Cherry Red Pearl(Hatchback)
AUTOMATIC
Clean Title
Rocker Panel & slight quarter panel damage* (will get into detail below)
164k original miles & going up as its my somewhat daily.
Odometer, speedometer, etc works. YES. The mileage still goes up so you know this isn't a swapped cluster (as many owners do to pass that their car has lower miles.)
Paint is in GREAT condition for what it is. The only peeling or flaking it on the black frames around the windows.
Car runs great with no loss of power. Revs quickly pulls strong with overdrive off.
Power windows, mirrors, and steering.
Never lowered, drifted, etc..
Almost 0 rust. Frame rails are great, inside of the trunk is great, almost 0 rust on the body.
Includes original spare wheel and floor jack.
AC blows cold.
Keys work all around including the trunk.
Passed Smog.
Tires are pretty new.
Turns on just fine with a healthy idle.
Cons (major):
- Currently there is a coolant leak due to the old hoses and possibly freeze plugs. I'm set to get this repaired sometime this coming week. With this repair, the cost will go up by approximately 75% of what I pay. I would do it myself, but no time or space.
- The car has damage to the rocker panel and some of the quarter panel. This was from the original owner. The door closes and locks with no issues and the car's body is firm and straight. I was advised by my friends shop to just get it pulled out and covered by sideskirts.
- The tail lights and possibly hatch seals cause SLIGHT leaking. The tail lights get some condensation under heavy rain (as we just had). Through the recent storms, very little water has actually gotten in and there isn't any rust in trunk area.
Cons (Minor):
- Cracked dash. I recommend a coverlay cover for the OEM look. Only about 120$ online.
- Needs alignment. Doesn't really bother me so I never got it done.
- Gas light doesn't work. The gauge does, warning light doesn't, but that's not really needed unless you ignore the reader for some reason lol.
- Cruise control doesn't work. Even with the original factory steering wheel it didn't work.
- Rear defroster seems to be always on. The button doesn't do anything.
- Heat doesn't work (see leaking above)
- Shitty stereo and speaker system.
- Car needs a transmission flush as it shifts 1st to 2nd a bit hard. Other than that it rides fine.
- Minor dings here and there with the biggest dent on the passenger side rear next to the light. Got quoted 70$ to get it pushed out/fixed.
Notes:
I am getting a Viper 3305v 2-way installed this week. This will raise the price by 200$ (device and install)
I currently have an NRG quick release set-up on this car. I can remove it and place the stock steering wheel back on for a price reduction of 150$.
The rocker panel to me isn't a problem as you can cover it with sideskirts and use over fenders to cover the quarter-panel dings.
The car HAD a factory spoiler that was luckily removed and plugged up. I say luckily as it's known to cause rusting over time.
I had plans to swap this to manual. If you plan to do so, it's around 400-600$ for the parts if you do it yourself. You can also have Wolfreign Motorsports or other local shops do the labor for around 850$.
***In all honestly, fixing the coolant leak only requires a couple of hours of your time and the 50$ worth of hoses. The car will still drive, but needs water or coolant added before hand****
Asking 3300$, but as stated, I will raise the price with the install of the viper alarm or can lower it by putting the stock steering wheel back on.
Will post more pictures within the next hour. Feel free to ask me for any specific pictures.
