I can buy a new paper gasket for like $10....however, is this the way to go?

I just got a JDM VLSD (no abs) and the cover is leaking mostly around the lower passenger side bolt...I tightened it up a bit but it may still be leaking a bit (I really made sure I cleaned it this time).

Looks like the bolt got whacked in shipping. Other than that it's a very clean (mostly all original black paint intact and factory markings) and seems 'tight' as far as off the car measurements without opening hte cover can tell.

If I do pull the cover to reseal, what should I check while it is open?

Thanks

I did the VLSD swap last week. Had to swap my old open diff cover and exchange it w/ the 2-bolt S14/J30 one.

Here's the part # for a Fel Pro Gasket for the Differential cover:

Part #: RDS-57275

I special ordered it from Kragen for $3.99 so its definitely a cheap and easy replacement. I know they offer it online but I figured I'd save some money by ordering it from the store and saving on S&H.

No pictures, but the fit was perfect and there are no leaks around my differential cover.

hmmm fel pro seems to have quite a selection for the 240sx. I want to pick up a valve cover too so I can refinish it (black krinkle with polished lettering)....$21.88 for the valve cover and 3.48 for the diff. For $3.50 and not screwing with goop I am game :).

Is it better than a paper gasket though? what was the make up of it?

RDS27275 is the proper part number, $3.03 from rockauto.com.
