I'm getting very impatient waiting for my KA-T to complete. I was wondering what can I do to my daily beater to help/aid in drifting. So far it has I/H/E, Bad tie rods, no horn, 163,000 miles, slipping clutch, 2 watt jensen cd player, torn seats, really really bad valve lash, Oil leak from h$%#, weird smell, bad shocks, rusted hatch lid, and a sticky tach. I'm looking to get better and practice a little. I'm planning on putting in a clutch this next weekend to get something that won't slip. I also plan on getting some cheap tires without any traction (195's) and getting sideways. Is there anything else I can do for very cheap or nothing to make it easier to practice drifting???

thanks for the help.

#1 those things ^^^ have no bearing on drifting, or anything for that matter
#2 fix all those other, more important things like bad tie rods, oil leaks, shocks , clutch etc before you damage something permenantly
#3 go to www.drifting.com
#4 practice
#5 wait for F&F 3 to come out

It was joke about the condition of the car. I'm also not going to spend hundreds of dollars for shocks, ect. on a car that my insurance for 6 months cost more than my car. I bought it for $650 with a salvage title. The engine is of no importance to me. I have an extra engine sitting in my garage that will eventually be rebuilt next summer. What I was implying is that those things I plan on doing are to make it ridiculously easy to slide and fish tail so I can gain more experience and learn how to control the car in a skid. If that's all the help i can get, someone delete this.

so basically he wants a fast easy way to make his car do stunts better. oh, in that case: no.
practice is the only way to get better at anything whether its drifting or actually DRIVING your car.
i can't believe you posted this and you actually have a KA-T in the works...

When the hell did the question get so complicated. The street is my only option. Tell me some place in Kansas that has drift events. Jesus all I want is to be able to drift at slower speeds. Beats going into corners at 45 + mph and definately endangering everything. Honestly!!! We're not all in big cities, socal, or the east coast.

Thanks captain obvious
Since when does taking a completely stock vehicle to drift become the only option. I'm asking is there any drifting related modifications that are cheap or free. But i guess I should have known the more I cruise in my car the better I get at drifting.

Not everyone knows how to drift.
Not everyone is close to the scene.
I've never met another person that has "drifted"
This is ridiculous. It was just a simple question so why did everyone flame??? Please tell me this: If you have 195/60/15's or 205/60/15's (name brand)....which will be easier to drift???
Tell me why I should fix the "weird smell, torn seats, and so forth" before I "worry" about drifting...
As said in the first post I have a new clutch to put in it this weekend, as well as tie rods.

allow me to clarify...
you wanted to know a cheap and easy drift related thing that you can do to help you be a "drifter"? i think we're run that one into the ground. the point is that there isn't a "drift" mod or whatever. sure some bandwagon homos like to stretch 195's on 8 inch wide rims cause its the cool thing to do, so they can break traction early, and so they can show em off on the intraweb. other than that you'll see people doing mods to gain the most CONTROL from their car. what mods? oh idunno, bushings, coilovers, and a multitude of ther things that you simply are unwilling to toss at your beater.
so where do we stand? you want us to hand you something that you have been given and now you want to get pissy? nah, dude that ain't kosher.
Give me a break and stop using me as your punching bag

What he said. Dont get your car sideways if it's not fit to be driven normally. Get everything dialed in, then start driving, faster and faster over time, then when you're comfortable you'll automatically be able to pitch the car sideways whenever you want to.

I'm at college now but my hometown is very deserted. The big industrial park on weekends is the only open space around. The cops only go down our main street on the weekends so it's the only place I can really go. Sorry for the "fish tailing" term. I guess it isn't jdm enough.

weld your rear differential, disconnect your front sway bar, and over inflate your rear tires severly. there drift, now watch out for trees

B - I didnt say you said that. i said to quit thinking it. your arguing with me/us tells me you missed my point which was GO DRIVE.
C - Hey finally you say something intelligent that we can all agree on. lets delete/lock this stupidity before it gets any worse. hell even the mods on this thread are to the point of running with dick jokes cause they arent as lame as this thread
ok put it this way. stop being a douche bag and go drive your car around a parking lot. drifting in the street is unsafe and stuipd...LEARNING to drift in the street is special olympics quality dumb...

Depends on whoever makes the user pink. Makoto is pink for a week.
Steeles got unpinked because he 'worked off' his sentence. (btw, sorry I got it all over your shoes.) luisgonz is pinked for 3 months. Sony is permapink, iirc.

Aren't stereotypes fun, especially when one gets the long end of the stick? Trust, it's big enough, ask your sister... So much for being perspicacious. :(
I don't have a sister, so make believe chicks don't count as self-gratification is irrelevant when measuring size, and comparing to adolescents is not a good control to base your experiment off of. Countering denial is the first step to take when realizing you have a problem.
By the way, size is not a problem as I myself am not caucasian either and the latinas dig it....:D But hey, I grew up and got out of grade school ten years ago. :)
(Note the obvious sarcasm)

you know everyone here is right practice is the best thing and will be better than any parts. I you can drift a car stock you can drift your modded car even better. as for cheap the only thing that cheap and realistic for a daily driver that i can think of is inflate your tires to the max PSI maybe removing your front sawy like some else already said. If you weld your diff you will have a cheap no slip differential but it will cause some understeer initially and will eat tires out very fast durring normal driving.
