I put my helmet on and sat in the car today to check it out since my head almost hits without the helmet and now I am wondering what I can do to give me a little extra room. I have an s14 with moonroof and leather interior package and my head hits on the headliner. Is there anyway to lower the seat or will a bride brix 2 be lower than the stock seats with the bolt on seat rails? can I pull the headliner to give extra room? Any ideas would be great I dont want to be hitting my head all day and the drift event I am getting ready for.

Over 6' eh? One trick that was suggested to me to get more headroom even when daily driving is to lean the seat back some more and then pull the seat forward more if nessasary to compensate for your torso being back farther. My $.02

I'm 6'4"... what I did was buy a bride FG seat rail, a sparco bucket, momo hub, sparco 50mm spacer, L2 quick release, and a sparco 383 steering wheel. Problem fixed!

Well I am only 5'8" so it really isnt made for anyone of reasonable size :) I will try it with the seat reclined for now I just like to sit up straight when I am drifting or circuit driving. Does anyone have bride brix 2's or been in a s14 with them I wonder if they sit any lower than the stocks? I will probably get a new steering wheel and seat but not till next year sometime I am doing coilovers and lsd first. daily driving is fine its just with the helmet that I hit

It's that stupid sunroof that's screwing you over.

I have thought about removing the sunroof, but I like it too much right now since I only do events about once a month I cant justify removing it, hopefully with new seats I will fit. If not I think I am going to clearance the cat hump by eaither removing it and having someone reweld a new piece of steel the shape of the floor there or just a big hammer. and then try to get the seat even lower. thats if the aftermarket seat and rail aren't already short enough. I only need about 3/4" more clearance so it's not much. I should just pull my stock seat cover off and cut the seat foam but then I think it would be too uncomfortable.

5'8"!? Dang dood, most cars are designed around an average man of 5'9". Shiz im 5'11", you should have nothing to complain about.
Anyway, that aside, Even the cock pit of an F-16 is reclined back to lessen the acceleration g-forces and provide a more comfortable position. Plus when you lean your seat back you get a slightly lower centre of gravity since your torso is the heaviest part of you and you are the highest mass in your car. Then again i ave been driving like that since day one. I autocross regularly haven't had a problem...but then again I don't have a sunroof.

wow... if u can afford all that, go ahead. What I did was carefully remove the seat cover and just tore out a 2-3in layer of foam from the middle square part [i have s14, cloth, seats]. It almost goes down to the wire springs, but then I put packaging tape across the bottom so the foam wont break... Its not easy to get the cover off... u need needle nose pliers and lotsa patience. ~2 hrs for good job.
Yup... im still a full time student and it was Summer and I was bored and my helmets friggin big [lrg Bieffe M2000 - $90 new] :)

Getting an aftermarket seat should solve the problem. Just be sure to get a super low rider bracket to accompany the seat. However, if need be, you might have to custom make one. I'm 5'7'' and my helmet scrapes the ceiling of my S14 and I have a moonroof too. It's a bit annoying, but I learn to lean back a little. It's not the most comfortable seating position, but it's necessary.

I'm 5'8", my helmet also scrapes the top. Slide the moonroof cover thing back and open the moonroof if weather permits, and lean to the side a tad. It works for me.

Thats really weird...
I'm 5' 9" and when i have my helmet on, i have just enough room to put my hand on top of my head; thats atleast a good 2 cm of clearance. And i also have an s14 with a sunroof. My seat is reclined just barely too.
I think you guys just have big heads! :D jk
Seriously though, thats really odd!

people bend in the middle and its not always proportional, some people have arms like gorillas and some people have long legs or however. while one person might be taller when standing up it might not apply when sitting down. plus you cant forget a big ass is extra padding and WILL lift you higher. conclusion? treadmill before new seat :p lol
