Hi everybody!

Normally i only read the topics here on Zilvia.
I'm also having a project so i thought I also share it with you guys.

This is my 1997 Nissan 200sx S14a (i'm from Europe, the Netherlands) so with the SR20DET. I bought this car in 2008, so I already got the car a few years.
Last year I decided to do a big makeover, because there was also a bit rust and other things. I bought the car with 124.000km, I used the car as my daily driver the last 7 years, when I started my project the km-counter was at 300.000km. The engine still runs great!:2f2f: Currently only the basic engine mods like, more boost, fmic, exhaust etc.

My plan is to have the car up and running in the beginning of next year.
The bodywork has to be done.

Somewhere next year i'm rebuilding the engine with more engine modifications.

My plans for the outside are a jdm kouki front/end with wide fenders and enkei rpf1 wheels.
After the build it will be a streetcar again so it has to be functional again so I will keep the same ride height.
Here I made a photoshop impression before I started.

As there was also alot of rust in the engine bay, we decided to make tubs.
Also new door sills, modified rear arches and welded some other places with rust.

Thanks!

Back from the welder, trying out the frp wide/overfenders and navan style skirts. The fitment is quite good, but not as perfect as I want so it needs modifications.
http://i.imgur.com/dy12Wrc.jpg

Started with the front fenders
http://i.imgur.com/JvY9Otu.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/JsgPcz1.jpg

I don't like fenders that doesn't cover the whole fender, so I also modified the overfenders for full fitment
http://i.imgur.com/zIkg1Q4.jpg

I searched a long time, but I found a jdm k's bumper with lip in Japan. It took a while but I was very happy when I got it hehe. It was in great condition!
http://i.imgur.com/OtE2rIW.jpg

Dyed the original carpet black, also made a suede roofliner. I want everything black in the interior except the seats.
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xla1/v/t1.0-9/13508817_10154325839629974_1558212256082302426_n.j pg?oh=0fdfe610cf8400cc9a31bb123e9e5b14&oe=58744CDD&__gda__=1483454987_260bda2d7c26ed1950b6b1388c33665 b

Nismo stuff
http://i.imgur.com/h4UYl2f.jpg

After the bumper I also recieved my new Enkei rpf1 wheels, 18x9.5 and 18x10.5. It took 4 months :ugh:

The enkei's will be wrapped in federal semi's

http://i.imgur.com/ImB80xI.jpg

After that it was time for more FRP work for the perfect fitment.
I don't want to use rivits for the rear fenders, they will be attached with kit.

http://i.imgur.com/9utx49c.jpg

More new parts
http://i.imgur.com/8jvy9qF.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/6MPu26c.jpg

I already had a fmic kit, but as i'm renewing everything I also bought a new fmic kit. Needed to do some modifications because of the tubs
http://i.imgur.com/AkvZhM6.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/x5yKNb8.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/NRBPnIA.jpg

The right sideskirt also need some frp work as the fitment wasn't 100%

http://i.imgur.com/KYkvShD.jpg

Also bought a kouki wing and rear spats to complete the package

Next it was some to do some work in the rear subframe.
I knew that the rear bearings and the subframe were a bit worn so I needed to change them.
http://i.imgur.com/smj82Ur.jpg

Everything was all rusty, so decided to change everything, sandblast and powercoat it
http://i.imgur.com/s9JAR5f.jpg

This was fun to do :D

Back from the sandblaster/powercoater
http://i.imgur.com/5QdXDHq.jpg

New wheel bearings
http://i.imgur.com/3pdDNzm.jpg

Because everything was apart, I also decided to upgrade the rear brakes to a r33 setup. Got it in 3 days from Japan!

Everything back together
http://i.imgur.com/Q1r4NfQ.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/Ils72Nn.jpg
My old tank straps were also rusted, so the welder made some new ones for me, these will be added also with new fuel/brake lines from front to back.
http://i.imgur.com/vmD02Ir.jpg

Next it was some for some more frp work on the front fenders.
As I wanted to keep the splash guards like oem.
I also didn't like where the way the openings in the front fenders, so more modifications needed:

This is my first time working with fibreglass, you have to be very patience for it and it takes alot of time haha

Yeah in Europe we got the SR20DET blacktop stock with the T28 turbo, also stock 5 lug wheels, heated leather front seats, heated mirror glass and other stuff.

Thanks! It was taken on my roadtrip to Italy, on the famous Gotthardpass at the border of Switzerland/Italy. Great roads for driving over there!

I'm indeed trying to make everything what I change as close as oem, or at least make it function as it should be.

Sub'd for the awesomeness

Sell me your old kouki skirts!

Sorry the skirts are already sold.
Are these rare in the US?
If you want I can search for them over here, but I think that the shipping costs will be high because of the length.

Nope, we don't have them. You just have to reach back and grab the belt. Are the holders attached to the belt or are they removable?

Haha, thank you. Before I started working on the wide fenders I didn't had any experience with it. It only takes alot of time and patience!
When i'm finished with the fibreglass bodywork, i'm gonna make my own cooling panel. Maybe cover it with carbon fibre, not sure yet.

Today I started working on my new brake/fuel lines, as the old fuel lines were a bit rusted.
Just need to paint them with bodyshoots so it wouldn't rust and then I can finally mount the fueltank + lines back and put the rear subframe back for the last time.
http://i.imgur.com/5w3nWMk.jpg

Also did some more frp work. One corner of the left front fender wasn't even with the door, so added a few layers of frp, sanded it down. Just need to add some white topcoat and then it is perfect :)
http://i.imgur.com/OI6ITip.jpg

Also started with my rear trunk, sealing all the seams again with 3m sealer, repaint it so it will be nice and clean again.
Also place the battery box and relocate the windscreenwasher bottle to the trunk.

Just an small update, as I didn't had very much time last weeks

Recieved my BM57 BMC, as the CTS-V Brembo's + R33 rear don't work too tell with the stock BM50 I think
http://i.imgur.com/Af4zZqS.jpg

Finished with the rear booth, removed the original paint as there was a little flyrust.
New paint, 3m seam sealer so it is as new. Only need to find a good set of booth carpet.
http://i.imgur.com/EBx4oLh.jpg

Also started making my own cooling panel from fibreglass, I can also buy one but making my own is more fun to do!
I hope that I got more time this week, as now it is just a raw shape.

Did you move your washer resi to the trunk? How crazy was that to accomplish?

MadMan88
12-28-2016, 02:08 PM
I might be mistaken but it looks like the car had the optional rear wiper and that is probably the reservoir for that.

CHiNo4ReaL
12-28-2016, 02:22 PM
I moved the front windscreen bottle to the rear indeed! It is an aftermarket bottle, not oem.
There was a rear wiper+nozzle, but I deleted it as I don't use it.

I used the existing line from the front to the back nozzle for the new windscreen bottle, just reconnected the lines.
Now only need to hookup the wiring and it is done.
When you are doing the same, just make sure that you got a one-way-valve in it, otherwise the nozzles will leak as there is no vacuum on the line I think?
The lines originally got a one-way-valve so I just had to turn it.

The current place of the bottle is just temporary, i'm gonna place it where the original jack sits.

The cooling panel is getting in shape.
Next, add some more fibreglass for the final shape and sand it down to make a smooth surface

I love the way this is taking shape.

When you started your cooling panel, did you just put some plastic wrap or thin cardboard down first to get the initial form?

CHiNo4ReaL
12-29-2016, 06:18 AM
Yes, plastic wrap around the headlights / grill as you don't want any residue stick on there.
Also add some tape around the radiator support bar so when it is hardened it wouldn't stick and make it easier to get it off.
Then make a mould with cardboard and more tape and start with laminating the fibreglass

Thanks!

Here another update, because I was very busy last weeks.

Finally managed to mount the fuel tank, fuel/brake hoses, e-brake lines and the subframe etc for the last time.

http://i.imgur.com/iI96Zmc.jpg

Another step further :)
http://i.imgur.com/WdK1LOA.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/SNi9dir.jpg

Also made some steps with the cooling panel.
Now I only need to make some mods to the piece where the hood lock sits, that needs to be lower for the hood.
http://i.imgur.com/rfzHWgA.jpg

Everything on the front is aligned, headlights, bumper etc., but the corner lights didn't fit very well on top, there was a gap. on the right side it was even worse.
http://i.imgur.com/GDWcAlD.jpg

So I added some fibreglass, strengthed it from the in and outside.
http://i.imgur.com/xDNVjfQ.jpg
Then grind it off and more measurement
http://i.imgur.com/WoLSlWt.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/r0nnEVz.jpg
Alot of work later, it fits perfect :)
http://i.imgur.com/NVobWUZ.jpg

Also did some more work in the inner arches.
Made some mounting holes/brackets extra
http://i.imgur.com/ZuPwc6I.jpg

Last pic for now, I just need to do a couple small things and then I can bring her away for paint!
http://i.imgur.com/NyQrIlN.jpg

Sneak preview for the color, it will be painted in Aurora Blue pearl of the R35 GT-R.
As I love blue, also I want to keep it in a OEM Nissan color.
The calipers will be painted in Porsche speedgelb, I think that this combination will look good!

CHiNo4ReaL
02-04-2017, 05:28 PM
Thanks! I'm happy that I fixed it otherwise I think that it would annoy me when the car is build up

Another update:
The last couple of days I did alot of work to finish all the fiberglass work.

First, started with the rear overfender where the fuel cap sits.
I've choosen to let the fuel cap cover to sit on the original position, so you can see that the car is wider then original.
Originally the overfenders had a piece for in the opening, but because I want to keep the cover on the original position I had to modify thatm

First, fill the outside with Fiberglass so I can use that as a mold for later.
Then add fiberglass to the inside to fill it up, so I can make it fit perfect.
http://i.imgur.com/i1A5Kju.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/MzGw3a0.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/vDCkXzQ.jpg

Then sand the outside down to the right size
http://i.imgur.com/l0pgX6b.jpg

Finished it off with topcoat and then more sanding for the final result.
The overfenders will be attached with kit. There is a minimal gap between the overfender and original fender, so I think that it will fit perfect.

http://i.imgur.com/wcpSwgw.jpg

Such a mess haha
http://i.imgur.com/pch6jbf.jpg

Also found a new place for the coolant expansion bottle, I'm gonna use the original bottle.
First I wanted to mount a alloy bottle on top of the wheel tub but this will be a bit cleaner.
http://i.imgur.com/qJZN997.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/eSoGOPj.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/8PmlycF.jpg

Also started with working on the cooling panel.
First, I had to cut the middle part, because that has to sit lower because of the hood.
http://i.imgur.com/LvK2PFp.jpg

Like a puzzle haha
http://i.imgur.com/ihUGYbw.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/ymFBs8p.jpg

Then started to fill-up the gaps with more fiberglass. When it is hardened I'm gonna sand it more down to create a smooth and thin surface.
http://i.imgur.com/AjkhSfy.jpg

Also recieved a few pictures from the painter.
He already sprayed the bumpers, spoiler and small parts.
The color is Aurora flare blue pearl of the Nissan R35 GT-R.

That is funny, alot of people in europe want the usdm/jdm rear bumper.
But from the US I heard alot of people who want the eudm/jdm look haha

When you got the plateholder/fog light part and when you make some cutouts in your usdm bumper, then you can mount it straight into your existing bumper.
If you want I can look for here for you

Already dyed the carpet black and made a black suede roof liner, think that it will look good!

Isn't that how it always is tho? You always want what you don't have!

I kind of figured that's how it worked but I never really saw any definitive info on the euro plate holder. I might have to take you up on that offer tho! xD

Your interior is going to be looking mint with the black out and those seats and door card contrast. I blacked out my carpet and headliner with the fabric dye and OMG it makes a hell of a difference on the look of the interior.

Are you going to be molding the gauges in the vent area?

Haha indeed!

By the time that you want it, just send me an message and I will look for you in our community!

I already got my car since 2008 with the original eudm look, so it time for a complete new look.

I'm not sure yet, I liked it how it was before because I could still use the central vents.
When it is moulded I can't use them anymore.

Will mount the sideskirts and rear spats later, as I will be taking out the engine again

Also needed to move the rear fog light, as the JDM bumper doesn't got a light unit like the EUDM bumper.

I'm happy with the alcantara-ish headliner, maybe also changing the grey bits but that is for later.

Monday it was time for the MOT check.
The rubbers of the rear buttom shocks were worn out. Didn't see that.
Luckily a fellow SXOC wanted to borrow me his rear shocks so I could still pass the MOT test asap, so in the mean time I can get new rubbers for my own shocks.

I got 20mm+ front fenders, did nothing special with my front bumper.

I think that my front fender is only a bit wider on top of the wheel arch and not the full front fender?

Thanks for your words!

The engine build is coming along.
For 300.000km = +/- 186.411 miles the cylinders and pistons were in a pretty good shape.
The crank bearings did got some wear, but hey the engine is used good so not so strange. The crank is also still good so no need to work on that.
For the rebuild I got forged parts, new oil/water pump and more parts to have a fresh engine again and ready for more power.

I'm sorry for the late reaction, didn't get an notification about it.
I got an exhaust by Mongoose, that is an company from the United Kingdom.

I like it alot because it is an pretty silenced exhaust. I think that it is discontinued right now.
I can't find the one that I got on their website anymore. Only a version without extra silencer and flex piece: https://mongooseexhausts.com/shop/nissan-200sx-s15-cat-back-system/
They are available with 2 different end tips.
