I was trying to track down short in my wiring yesterday(blinker also activating brake lights) in my 92 240sx hatch. After much research, I decided that removing the dash was the only option to trace the problem.

So this morning I hopped in the car and ripped out the dash without ever putting the key in ignition. After the dash was out we decided to check wires with a multimeter but all of a sudden absolutely no power to the ignition. turning to 'on' does nothing, usually primes fuel pump and other lights come on. We checked the wires going into the ignition and they DO NOT have power so it cant be the barrel. Only things that still work without key is headlights on(they don't come up) and foot-well lights. We checked all the fuses and relays, battery has charge obviously, but no problem could be found. The car does have a few cut wires that were fixed by previous owner but everything was working fine until today so I doubt it could be due to that being bad/sketchy. Maybe thinking alternator?(It seemed fine before but idk). Could I have accidentally messed something up that connects to ignition while taking off the dash?
