I'm curious. I own an '87 200SX SE-V6. Whenever I look up Silvia forums or anything like that, it's always the S13 and newer bodystyles. Why no mention of the S12 or earlier generations? Aftermarket if pretty much void also. I really like the S13 and S14 bodystyles. I LOVE the new S15. I just wonder what happened to the history of the Silvia.

Because the s12 is just the platform of the car, its not a silvia.

well... the S13 fastback isn't a Silvia either.... the S12 might have come closer to being a Silvia than the USDM S13 or S14, since it was optioned with the CA20E and CA18ET... and the CA block was offered in the true Silvia lineup...
Well, I know by name here in the states it's not a Silvia, but over in Japan, the S12 was the Silvia and the Gazelle, depending on configuration. The S series (S110, S12, S13, S14, S15) were all Silvia's in Japan. hell, the first Silvia ever came out in 1968. Anyway, just wondering why on the 240/Silvia sites, the S12 is never mentioned. Is it like the bastard child that no one wants to talk about?

try looking for some 200sx sites....I know there's a pretty good site out there...just don't know what it's called...probably something like 200sx.org.
people (from what I've seen) tend to group cars together by the model...hence the reason why no usdm 200sx and 240sx are on the same pages.

the s12 is a great car...not only does the v6 version come with the vg30e engine (z31 300zx engine) its lighter then the 300zx, i'd get it if i were u ...i like the little car ...just not the looks...but anyhow...with that plate for u can swap a vg30et or vg30dett very very easy...since the motor mounts and everything is like practically the same!...is much more practical then swaping the vg30et or vg30dett into a s13 or s14....the vg30et swap is obviously going to be a practical drop in and ALL the poarts engine parts...since it gunna be the z31 engine...will work <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/blush.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/notify.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':notify:'>

Okay - I realize that in the U.S. the S12 is called the 200SX and the S13/14 is called the 240SX. But they are of the same lineage. Hence the "S" designation. Like the Skyline lineage is the R32, R33, R34. Each new designation only signifies a change in bodystyle. In the world of the Z car, there are different designations, such as, the 240Z, 260Z, 280Z, and 300ZX, but a Z club would usually encompass all the generations and history of the line. Why is it not the same with the 200SX/240SX?
As for it being easy for me to swap a VG30ET into it, I'm not going to go that route. I'll be keeping it N/A. I've got the 300ZX Twin Turbo for the power, and it's FAR from stock.

u probubly already know this but.....the 200sx v6 had the vg30e...so if u think about it it was a z31 non-turbo...why not make it a z31 turob?..:D <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/notify.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':notify:'> ....that is what it is ment to be~!

"CSP311 SILVIA
The Nissan Silvia CSP311 made it's public debut at the Tokyo Motor Show in September of 1964. For the design of the Silvia, Nissan engaged the services of a German designer by the name of Count Albrect Graf Goertz. Goertz later worked on other projects for Nissan including a four seater version of the Silvia that never reached production. He also came up with the concept and initial designs for the Datsun 240Z, unfortunately Nissan chose to heavily redesign the 240Z, eventually settling on a blander design for the production version, rather than the bold design by Goertz.
The "R" engine was a 1595cc over head valve engine with a 3 bearing crankshaft. The bore size was 87.2mm and the stroke 66.8mm. It was fitted with two 38mm Hitachi SU carbs and a light weight pressed steel exhaust manifold. It produced 96hp at 6000rpm and 103ft-lb of torque at 4000rpm. Later cars had an R engine with an alloy head and a 5 bearing crankshaft."</td></tr></table><span id='postcolor'>
