This bolt hole was stripped and the bolt fell out so I don't know the thread pitch and bolt size I need.
I also don't know what helicoil size i need if anyone can help me out i would appreciate it.
I though studs and a nut were supposed to go in those holes but my turbo had bolts
please let me know the size heli-coil and bolt i need thanks!
turbo is a garrett gt2871r .64 if needed

Measure hole, drill/tap to a size that is close, buy a bolt for the threads you tapped. It's aluminum you can just tap to a bigger size

Thanks kat-pwr. I was trying to avoid measuring cause I don't have a measurement caliper. I was just curious if anyone knew the thread pitch. So I could go slightly bigger.

It's most likely M8x1.25 thread. Take the turbo with you to a Fastenal store where you'll probably buy the tap. Find the one that threads in the non-stripped hole. Go up a size.

That's what I'm hoping. Should be same as the elbow studs and mani to turbo studs. Which is m8x1. 25

Yep, typical 10mm hardware.

you are correct it is in fact an M8X1.25 thread pitch bolt. In this I would personally helicoil the bolt hole. it's quick, easy & reliable.

Timesert is so expensive it's pointless for something so insignificant

Yes I saw the prices. Lol. I'll stay helicoil since it's only torqued to like 8-12lbs or so

if you're cheap then use a 9mm drill to drill out the hole and tap it for a 10mm bolt

Isn't that the same thing as doing a helicoil?

I thought helicoil was the only way. I've never repaired a stripped bolt. I'll be seeing what home Depot has.

sometimes the price difference is worth paying for, keeping your hardware consistent and the car easy to work on.

I plan on doing helicoil. Just need to check my home depot if they have the correct size. I plan on using a 9mm drill bit to smooth the hole out. Tap it . Then use the proper helicoil size. I'm looking for a m9 or m10 x 1.25. Correct?

Helicoils are more common at Napa Autoparts, ACE Hardware and places with larger drill & hardware selections. I've never seen a Helicoil kit at any home depot.
the helicoil you are looking for is M8X1.25
the helicoil kit will tell you what size drill bit you'll want to re-drill the hole (a bit bigger than the original thread size) tap it, thread in the helicoil and then the finished product will be a suitable M8X1.25 thread inside the helicoil.

Oh ok thank you very much. I thought when you strip the bolt you have to use a bigger bolt size. Didn't know I could use a m8 1.25 kit. Thanks so much!!
