"""I allways thought that they would work but...
I just read something intresting....

Quote from Nightstalker "HEy guys...since I spent alot of money going through this bullshit, I am going to be a nice mofo and let you learn from my fuckups. Heres the bottom line for those that dont give a rats ass about tech info.
DO NOT RUN A E5(BLACKTOP ECU) ON A REDTOP. THEY ARE NOT THE SAME!!! IT WILL SCREW WITH YOUR IDLE AND YOUR FUEL MAP, IGNITION MAP.
For all you guys that want to know why read on.....
When I first bought my car I noticed my ECU was an E5, which I thought was awkward. Then I had alot of problems getting my car to idle correctly and keep it from running dirty ass rich. TPS, timing, all that bs was cool. I wrecked my car swaped my motor into another car and again same problems only this time my motor told me,"kiss my ass" im outta here. So I lost my first 2 cylinders. I bought a new longblock swapped it back in and hooked up my old ECU, again idled like shit ran like shit I was like So there was another redtop in the shop with a shiny little 62 ECU, I grabbed it hooked it up and it idled perfect and ran nice and strong. Next I installed a split second filtered A/F meter with inj duty cycle and saw that my O2 was bouncing back and forth like a kid on ritalin (sorry Brett). That means car was running perfect. So today I get a little curious and hooked up the E5 before I ship it off to make sure it works. Ran ok but the way the A/F meter was acting was different. I used to have problems at 20% throttle if anyone remembers. Well at 20% my car was not getting enough fuel according to the A/F and when I got on it, it would go to full rich as it is supposed to but the fuel wouldnt back off it would stay full rich when I let off the throttle completely. Which means at idle it would bog and sputter because it was burning off excess fuel. But running too much fuel can eventually wash off the oil on your cylinder walls causing alot of scarring burning problems. I called up a friend of mine that was in town who has a blacktop. We put the ECU in his car and it ran perfect. His A/F was normal and everything ran fine.
So kiddos, lesson: Nissan put a 62 and an E5 on different motors because they are different. You know what the diff is? The redtop uses a skinny 02 with a different signal, and the blacktop uses a fat 02 sensor. SO DONT USE THESE ECU's interchangibly. It cost me over 3k to learn this lesson!!!"
