you better make it worth your while to have an NA SR!!
like high compression or something. i hear you can use Z32 pistons for that.

I harbor a desire to go NA SR crazy. ...maybe when I have money. Here's a couple pics for Halo that I took of my old Carboy Silvia/180sx tuning special mag.
The ad claims 250ps for 1300,000 yen for a NA SR

haha, I've been picking up KAs for around 200 complete. I can fathom paying near 1k for a motor set yet.

Love knowing that I can beat on a motor and not worry to much about it.

It's the "being poor" copromise though.

Just wondering, How well does the stock SR20DE stack up to the stock KA?` I always figured that the KA would make more power being of larger displacemant and all.

heh nightwalker those first pics are verry much true.. tomei aftermarket sr20's... they also have a DET that runs.. ohh i forgot just visit their website i think its over 350 on a t25 or t28. Other than that i dont think I have seen a single RWD VE besides that one made by eagle japan. some aussies are working on making a second one tho... VIVA LA N/A!!!

off the top of my head i think its at about 140hp and under 140torque? the ka does indeed make more power, but not by much. they're actually kind of comparable motors... i wonder if people would bash on kas so much if nissan had made a factory ka24det.

KA's are great motors. Im actually saving the one in my car, and am going to turbo it and put it in a shell S13. I would love to have a torquey turbo engine. But sadly, thats not what I want currently. I love N/A, and having owned a FWD SR20DE for years, I crave it RWD style! Check out the stock manifold guys, took some pics today.

not bad for stock, it flows 4-2-1....kinda.

The only thing I know about the CA18DE N/A, was that it came in the nissan pulsar in the late 80's as a FWD set up. Ive seen some people with the motor, its hard to get exhaust and stuff for it, but it seems to respond good to mods.

excuse my noobism here, by whats so great about the sr20de compared to the KA, the KA is larger and produces more stock HP, whats so great about the sr20 that you would wanna switch it?

there's more aftermarket support for the SR

there's more aftermarket support for the SR

I suppose but thats mostly for the det. i would venture to say right now there is just as much shit out there for a ka (if not more) as there is a sr20de in america. most of the bolt ons that people do for sr's are turbo related (fmics, boost controllers, etc. etc.)

anyway nissantuner22, get those tomei individual throttle bodies. they look SOOO delicious.

haha.. they don't know what's up.. ;) You've gotta have a SR20DET to make it big in the 240sx crowd. ;)

ehhh...if you are doing it just to be different I can see the point. A n/a ka is still cheaper

Travis, they really have no clue how the SR20DEforums rock it!

I paid 650 for it.

I should get Greg Perry on here... Or Andreas Miko.. :) 200whp N/A SR20DE's are common place amongst the guys over there. And you guys are talking about "peak" power when you refer to the KA motor. It's not all about peak power.. The SR has a much more useable powerband than the KA does. Take a SR and a KA powered S13.. and I'd be willing to bet that the SR powered KA would fair just as good.. if not better than the KA powered S13. Not saying that the KA is a turd.. I'm actually building one right now to make big power.. but for someone who's looking to go SR... the DE motor is a much better/cheaper option if you want to make good numbers turbo'd. You could also turbo the KA.. it's all up to your preference..

Whats the SR redline at? id imagine itd be a fun high-revving engine, and good for drag racing. KA (in stock form) is terrible for drag, but awesome for road racing/touge/drifting with all of its torque in the mid-range. this is coming from someone whos hasnt driven anything but ka for 1.5 years though :p

heh i am a fwd sr owner and i just kicked the crap out of a local ka kid ... people so under estimate N/A Sr's whats great about the RWD edition is the tranny is stronger and a lot of the parts for fwd can be placed on the rwd edition... or some with a bit of moding... even then you still have a great aftermarket to choice from.lol i remember Andreas Miko or one of the big boys *maybe Hass* pushing an N/A SR to 400hp just on water injectors... then they ran out of them ...lol.

I would like to say you just made a fine choice

well thank you CKAMC for the kind words. Today I checked out the motor to see whats up with it. Dirty ass fuel filter, cant breath through it. PLUS! the line is cracked. otherwise, its a tight little motor. even has the "jdm" fuse box.
