Hey guys! so I have an s13 redtop thats currently out of my car on an engine stand. im installing my Brian Crower 264/264. I tried reading the cam cards supplied with the cams but I will admit that its alittle above my skill range. INB4 the guys that say "if you cant do this then just drop the wrench and have a pro do it." well, the whole point of having this 240 is a learning experience to become a better mechanic. Dont worry, if the car blows up i have a daily driver, this is just a weekend project..

now that being said, Currently whats going on with the head is..
Brian crower Titanium retainers,spring
Brian crower SS Valves
New rocker arms/lifters
Everything was machined to spec, and the heads are like new.

Now that im putting the SR back together i need to adjust timing to compensate for these cams.

Is there any special way to mount a degreeing wheel so it doesnt hit the water pump?
what are you resting the indicators on?
how about dial indicators to read maxiumum lift?

what methods would you recommend?
If someone has a good writeup/video could you link it?

Do you have adjustable cam gears to even do the timing with a degree wheel?

Toda 264 are most likely designed to be ran at the stock cam gear timing, however BC cam's all seem to require adjustable cam gears for the most performance, although they will work with stock timing, you're just leaving power on the table. That's why I always recommend JWT cam's that work on stock timing no need to degree them.

Degree any new cam if possible. Don't use adjustable cam gears in general (unless this is a strict race car and you have experience adjusting them)
