Just wanted some opinions and anwsers on my pulls from this weekend at Torquefreaks in Portland, A/F metering was also included as a package... My '91 KA is very much stock with 114k miles on it, only "mod" would be a K&N drop in filter, Pulls were done in 3rd gear. I thought peak torque was made at 4400RPM? Does that have anything to do with the pull being in 3rd? My friend's also ran their cars with a much smoother HP/TQ curve, why's mine so shaky? Also my car dropped 7hp by the 3rd run.. Quite a bit for such a short period, cooling problem? Also any insight on my A/F ratio would be great. Looking foward to hearing your replies!

Well, Zak's car actually also has some flowmaster muffler that the P/O put on the car. The piping doesn't seem any different from stock though. We also took out the resonator as well, so it has a bit more intake sound as well...

And here's his Dyno sheet. http://www.super-crush.com/gallery/albums/klr2004/Zak_1.sized.jpg
If you wanna see a BIG version of the image, look HERE! (http://www.super-crush.com/gallery/klr2004/Zak_1?full=1)

So we want to know what you guys think about the car losing power as we did more runs, and what you think running in 3rd gear is doing compared to doing a 4th gear pull. And then take a look at his A/F ratio, what do you guys think about it? How can he lean it out at the top end and smooth it down?

My car with a carburator had a much better A/F ratio and smoother hp and trq. For reference, this is a 1968 Volvo 142, with a 71 b20b motor, dual SU HIF6s that are slightly modified and a full perforated core, mandrel bent, straight through exhaust. I retarded the timing too much because they didn't have decent cooling fans and got less power than i shoulda. If they had decent fans i could've pulled 90 hp probably. And that's decent, don't make fun. http://www.super-crush.com/gallery/albums/klr2004/kyle_2.sized.jpg

Thats a pretty good number for an stock s13...

Mine made 132rwhp and 132 rwtq when it was stock (just k&n drop in and 170k miles)
Havent dyno it after turbo though

heres my bone stock dyno, timing was pretty off (retarded, realized that afterwards)

135k, stock intake and exhaust.

that's about right for a stock s13. my friend that has an s13 ka with just exhaust dynoed at 140 hp and 140 torque. it has lower miles than you guys though. but hell for 100k + those are decent numbers.

My car also had a loss of power the more runs I did...

Once I let it cool off it was back up again...

My stock car was a little less then youre's

I need to stop by Torque Freaks and get a new dyno... Once they get my RPS clutch to me.

Here is the old dyno.

Lets see how it turns out. The rpms were cut off, but if I remember correctly, it dropped off at 6700-6800 rpm and had max power at 5700-5900

1. What gear were you guys dynoing in?

2. Are there any suggestions on how to smooth out the curves?

3. Any suggestions on leaning out the top end???

I see that 240driver and Zak's A/F readings are basically the same... So it's not just a Zak's car thing... But 240driver's lines are smoother... What are you using for ignition components 240driver?? How many miles? Bone stock? Zak's engine should just be a little better than stock... But your's is 10 higher... And that's with retarded timing? How much were you running? Zak's car is lined up with the very first "notch" on the pulley, is that where his timing should be set(where do we want to advance it to anyway)???

Whaddaya think? Any ideas?
