they do this all the time, usually its just like 4 speed with double overdrive...so u can have 4 thicker gears....i've also heard of a 6speed double overdrive..so it's like the same thing

SCC had a twin engine Tiburon, 1 engine Fuel/Turbo, other was Methanol/Turbo...crazy ass shit, it ran 10sec in 1/4 mile
0-60 in 3.low something seconds.

the skyline you saw wasn't the GTR. specs for the GTR aren't out yet.
it's the Skyline 350GT-8 (or something like that)... it's the new skyline in Japan -- the equivalent to our Infiniti G35 (that's the name rite? lah...) but the infiniti gets like a dumb 5spd auto...

im pretty sure its for the r35. the g35 is getting a 6 speed a little while after it debuts but in the meantime your stuck with a 5speed auto

ok found the mag heres a direct quote from car and driver:
"quick downshift to seventh!
nissan will introduce a skylline for its home market that has a cvt transmission with eight preset speeds. our guy drove one on a racetrack, where he not once used a preset higher than sixth and on some turns had to downshift thorugh four. nissan has no plans to offer the paddle-shifted eight speed in hte us market version, the infinity g35, offering instead a five-speed automatic and later a six speed manual."
