KA24DE s13 autometer tachometer wiring problem! please help!

I need to know what wire I can tap into for a tach signal. I have tried the yellow/red wire (ecu pin 2) and my tach just moves for a second and then goes completely dead. I have also tried getting a signal from every wire at the ignition coil, and get the same thing.

someone on here HAS to have a ka s13 with an autometer tach, please help me.

I've read about tach adapters, and reallllly don't want to pay for one, or wire one and have more wires to wire.

I,ve also read about a MSD 8918 tach signal pickup. anyone have any experience with these? I would rather not throw money at the problem until someone gives me reason to believe I should buy one.

does anyone with a ka24de have an aftermarket tach of any kind that can tell me where to get a tach signal?

PLEASE HELP. There is almost no chance someone on here doesn't know the answer to my question. I do not want to spend $30-$60 on some tach adapter only to find out it doesn't work.

Ok let me ask this instead. What aftermarket tach do you guys use on your ka24de? I'm willing to buy a different tach if it's known to work with my engine.

a buddy of mine just used the MSD adapter for his autometer tach on his SR and it worked fine.
