I noticed that ever since you upgraded to this version of vBulletin, there is a long pause after a page is loaded. (depending on the category, it can be long like in the general, or short in the less active forums) It seems to happen all the time unless i'm on a very fast PC. I've used different connections (cable, t1, dialup) and that doesn't change anything.

Is this a problem you've seen already? :blah:

I just read the forum sugg. forum more than the first page and saw you said you're having disk access issues. Running exchange on the same server would prob do that. I don't know your server or bandwidth setup, but i bet it's sufficient :eek3:

One unique thing I noticed about this forum is that it previews the first post of each thread when you hover the mouse over the topic. If you disabled this feature, maybe you could cut down some of the accesses to the database. I didn't see a toggle to turn off this feature...

Yeah both my work computer(P4) and my brothers (celeron) do it. But my athlon xp 1800+ doesn't, of course my personal pc is built for gaming and is a bit faster

My athlon xp 2600+ is built pretty fast and it also does it.

The database containing all the threads and posts is getting huge.

We have not done any archiving, so everyone has access to the entire history though search.

We'll look into a database rebuild/reindex, but that would probably take down the forum for several hours.
