Before I get into it I'll list the important info:

S13 Redtop SR
PowerFC -> Z32 MAF
Stock O2
Innovative Wideband
Innovative Boost gauge
WiringSpecialties Harness
MAC Boost solenoid
GM 3Bar MAP sensor

Alright, so my car ran great. Idled fine, timing is currently set to 15*, about to check on that again just to be sure.

So here is what happened, I installed the GM 3Bar MAP sensor and boost solenoid, car idled fine no biggy, then enabled the boost control in the PFC settings. Immediately the car died. The only was to keep it alive now is to give it a bit of gas.

It honestly sounds like a huge vacuum leak from the MAP sensor or something but we will see. Any input to help out? I haven't heard of to many people running there before, tried searching and going through PaulR33's bit of info but I have yet to find anything.

is the boost controller wired properly? i had an issue that my solenoid wouldnt turn on all the time. it would be running fine then all of a sudden would die. have you had your car tuned for boost controller yet?

No, the boost control kit uses a MAP sensor to know how much boost it is running! I swear Im not that stupid haha

I had no idea you actually had to tune it. I made the wrong assumption thinking this would be an easy task. It SHOULD be wired properly. I can check again.

The MAC solenoid is getting power and ground, then the MAP sensor is wired into my PFC's 5 pin properly.

Yep!

So possibly wired incorrectly? I can write up the diagram of how its wired in.

yeah. the solenoid is wired straight to the oem boost controller correct? i had to wire the power straight to the ecu power and the other wire is to the oem boost controller wire

Yep I wired the boost solenoid directly to the plug for the oem boost controller plug (matched colors via an ECU pinout just to be sure.)

Just to verify, I tried looking for a definite positive and negative on the MAC Solenoid but it seemed like there wasn't one, it was just was wire one to the positive and one to the negative. Ill swap em tomorrow when Im not so tired just to make sure.

I might try what you have done. Just temporarily get it working, then modify the harness accordingly.

Thought Id give you more info on my setup. Its using an internal wastegate setup, so I have my boost solenoid setup like in the picture, having the right most port venting to atmosphere. Tomorrow Ill play around with wiring to the actual solenoid and wire in a 10A fuse aswell just for safety purposes.

MAC Boost Solenoid (P/N - 35A-AAA-DDBA-1BA)

The MAP Sensor is receiving its source via a port on the intake manifold, and the solenoid is receiving its vacuum/boost the same as the picture I attached.

Wiring from MAP Sensor to Harness using the picture as the diagram -

C (5V) -> Red wire on harness
B (Sensor Out) -> Green wire
A (Ground) -> Black wire

I used the information on that site to wire up the MAP Sensor to the PFC. Specifically -

MAP Sensor
Red = Positive
Black = Negative (earth)
Green = Signal

Any ideas? Im thinking I need to adjust the wiring to the MAC Solenoid as it seems like a massive boost leak from my experience with SR's. This is my first attempt at wiring in boost control for the PFC. Just been playing around with what it is capable of.

Again thanks for the input and any help you can provide. Hoping to solve this issue by tomorrow so I can get this car out to an event on Sunday!

did you have to use a datalogit to scale for the gm map sensor? i can't imagine it being the same.

Going to talk to someone locally about how I can go about doing that. Ill see if a buddy has a datalogit so I can get this done.

This shouldn't kill the motor though should it? All the MAP sensor changed was allowing boost control, the MAP sensor doesn't control any airflow and what not since its an L-Jetro. Ill play with it before work to see if there is an airleak from the solenoid opening or something.

This was my first thought also.

One other thing. From my experience with EMS, you're normally able to input the frequency at which the boost control solenoid operates. You can't do this with the PowerFC. If the frequency of the MAC solenoid you're using is different than that of the A'PEXi one it may cause more problems.

Thanks for the info guys. Ill be picking up a datalogit this week if I can't use one locally. For now Ill disable the boost controller function and just run off wastegate until I can get this sorted out.
