Hey guys, I need some help. So long story short, A guy in Australia was selling a short shifter for an sr20det. I quickly noticed it was a C's short shifter and jumped on it. With shipping to the states, it was about $40. I got it in today and it is in fact a C's, BUT, it is missing the metal spacer/ collar. My question is if anyone knows where I can find one, or if the one from a generic v1 shifter will work? Being a solid piece of metal, I don't see that affecting its quality, so long as its the same thickness.

Also, the rubber boot is ripped, but I already had a new one. Before I boil it, lube it, and try to force it on over the thick end of the shaft(giggity), does the top section unscrew like the cheap v1's? I can see it's insulated inside with rubber, so I don't want to go trying to force it break the shifter

Here's the collar I am referring to:

Thank you!

Yes any cheap generic collar from a short shifter eBay kit will work, they're all the same size. I've personally done this before with Cs, Tomei etc. the top part will not screw off to my knowledge; it's one solid piece. Hope that helps.

Yeah like mentioned above as long as the dimensions are the same on that collar then any one will do. As for the boot I just replaced mine on my Tomei shifter and it was one solid piece. I just lubed up the boot with some axle grease and it slid right down. Little wipe up and it was good to go.

Awesome, thanks guys. I'll be ordering an ebay shifter then. Funny, I had one a while back but either sold it or threw it out when I "upgraded" to a v2 ISIS shifter. Can't wait to get this thing in!

I honestly wouldn't doubt it. From the pictures it looks the same. It did work perfectly for the C's shifter.

you can also find aluminum pipe of the same size and thickness to make it work.

Probably. I had a Tomei shifter once that I bought that didn't come with the collar this thread refers to. Bought an eBay shifter for $20 and used the collar from that- worked great!

I can verify that the the spacer from the eBay shifters will work perfectly with the Tomei. I recently installed one on my friends car using the spacer from an eBay shifter since GTR Garage forgot to pack it with his when he purchased it (and then wouldn't respond to any of his emails).

I compared the eBay spacer to the one on my extra authentic Tomei shifter before we installed his and they were identical.

Contact Bernie(nova) on here, I believe he has a few of the C's collars laying around.

Spacers from eBay shifters are a charcoal colored plastic, who knows how long that will last. On C's units depending on the vintage and model of shifter you have the spacer thickness varies. I'll compare a Tomei shifter I have on hand and see what's appropriate. Post or PM photos of the unit you have, in particular the underside of the retainer base.

Btw there is no need to boil replacement oem shifter boots, just lube them prior to install and they will slip over the lever just fine.

The spacer that came with my ebay shifter worked perfectly. There is no play, nor is there any rattle. As far as longevity, it's made out of the same material as the bushing on the bottom(mine isn't charcoal colored), so I figured it should last as long as that, which will be longer than I will have the car I'm sure. And yeah, I just greased it a little and it slid right on. I tried removing one once in the same manner and it ripped, so I was just being paranoid.

I just purchased the exact same shifter from a local JDM importer for $30 lol, I was just wondering how you know it's a C's short shifter..? Shifter feels great by the way. Just want to know how to confirm what I have.

Post pics. Easiest way to tell is the fat section of the shifter being molded by rubber to the lower section

Also, I've been running mine for 11 months with the delrin spacer and took it out yesterday to try out a tomei shifter. The spacer has worked perfectly fine and is in the same condition as when I put it in. So anyone who comes across this and is in the same situation, don't hesitate to use the plastic bushing. I've seen a few for sale lately that have plastic bushings in them as well, so I'm sure I'm not the only one who had to do this. I do feel it's important to include that information in your sale post though, some people won't like that, just in case any of those sellers see this.

Here is an awful picture of it (right). Just put it in my car but I'll get more pics if it can't be identified through this one. The way the rubber is held up is exactly like the one in your picture, a clear zip tie sitting right under the fat part of the shifter.

The base looks like a C's. Inside the fat part should be rubber. If so, you have a real shifter. For 30 bucks, that's just plain stupid (in a good way). The one on the left is not a real C's
