ok, i have a pair of triple beam silvia projectors. They were Lisa's (s13silviagirl) old set. heres my q? are they DOT approved? cuz i took my car to this inspection station, (ive been going to them for years, and they really laid back) the mechanic told me that he doesnt know about this stuff, but if i can give him any sort of documentation (email, printed webpage, etc.) that he would be fine with that. So if they are DOT can anyone help me find where i can see that online, or on the housings themselves, b/c he said they arent on there..... if not, im gonna need to forge a document.
thanx for help in advance.

I don't believe they are DOT-approved since they never came on any USDM car... or LHD car..

how the hell is a RIGHT HAND DRIVE headlamp supposed to meet DOT-standards when the lighting pattern is that of another country!?!?!?!?!?

DOT doesnt approve anything, they just set the requirements for what a headlamp should be.

good luck...

ohh, yeah that makes sense. i was under the impression that they had DOT over in Japan too. well, looks like im gonna have to fabricate some documentation. im sure they wont even care, they just wanna see something.

So wht does everyone else in the US with s13 silvia front end do? you cant tell me that all of yall have hookups with state inspectors? I used to, and it looks like i might be going that route in the future, if these guys dont cut me some slack. I really like paying $15 legally and hoping the inspector cuts you slack, rather than $50-$75 per inspection sticker bought from an inspector.

i had similar experience with not passing inspection because of my headlight. but what i did is go around and find 1 that doesn't check my headlight, and have them do my inspection. i don't know about your state's inspection but i do know that not all inspection station in NY inspect the same way.

good luck

Wouldn't it be JASMA or something, or is that only for exhausts? (What does JASMA stand for, anyway? Japan Auto Specialty Manufacturers Association or something?)

the people who inspect my car never said anything about my lights, hell untill 2005 they don't even care if I had a cat on my car or not. BFE inspections are the best..lol

actually, all hes asking for is any sort of documentation that has the words DOT on them. i was planning on making a fake ebay posting or something that has the description stating they are DOT legal. im pretty sure he said anything like that would fly with him. So if anyone has any suggestions, or is good on photoshop, or general forgery, take some spare time out of your day and make something. If i end up using it and it passes ill give whomever made it $20 via paypal

Hey Dave

It's Lisa, they aren't DOT approved, but, then again in CA we don't have a safety inspection. Just the smog...and that is a bish even with a stock KA! haha

YEAH, smog sux, but if it werent for the fact that i went out to a inspection station, in BFE where they've never even heard of a silvia. so i'm pretty sure i can give it a shot at fudging some documentation. btw, i just put some raybrigs in the projector foglamp, and they look great. honestly adds soooooo much light.
btw, how are your lights holdin up?

WOULD THERE BE ANY MONEY EXCHANGE NEEDED IN THAT SITUATION?
I JUST MIGHT DO THAT. UNLESS SOMEONE ELSE THINKS OF SOMETHING BETTER...
