Hey, I am in the market to buy a CF hood. I was wondering if anyone had any idea on a quality place to get a hood from? Im just lookin for a clean zenki hood with no crazy scoops, lights, or anyother crazy shizbla.not a ebay hood either i hear they suck the ball`s. Anyone with any good info thanks.

VIS ownz joo. Best quality chit I've seen yet.
Fiberimages blows ass, stay away.
VIS eh?
i have alot of experience with their stuff, i used to work for a major canadian distributor for them.
early on when they made CF stuff it wasnt uniform. as in some were great but some were not. we had some terrible times trying to fit the dang stuff.
i guess it got better?
i wouldnt ever touch a VIS fibreglass kit for any car though.

damn, this is the first forum ive seen where everyone likes VIS. i have the VIS oem, and it fits pretty good and looks nice. no problems. definatly worth the money, but i know quite a few people who have gotten them and they didnt fit well, or at all.

blue109 - dont get it twisted we like their CF hoods. thats all we'll vouch for. their fiberglass body kits are still very suspect (although I had great success with mine too many others have had fitament issues with their kits to assume mine is the norm and not the exception. the hoods however seem to be the opposite)

you know, i havent heard of anyone complaining about the fitment of the VIS oem hood. i have the s13 silvia OEM VIS hood, i love it!. fitment is great. nice rolled edges, seems like primo CF and def aweseome stock hood latch is teh hotness!
i think the only complaint i knew of is that theyre more of a fiberglass hood, wrapped in CF, but you know what it does the trick, its light enough and it looks great. good luck!

I've got a related question, no point in making a new thread, the CF hoods I've seen have either had the FMIC pass through vent design, or have been OEM style. Does anyone make a hood with a more subtle normal scoop, something like what's on the FC turbo, for the S14?

every1 in my area has vis. good quality, fitment, and holds up to the elements. they're kits are bullshit. my brother has the S15 conversion and it licks goose turds.
you can also check out taka kaira for the Stout hoods. they're vented but are more conservative looking. just a thought...

my only problem with my VIS is the placement of the vent. too far forward to do any good. I'll be enlargeing the opening to make it functional when I paint the car sometime in the near future :) hood will match the car at that point

I have the oem look very good.Even with out pins the latch holds it under high speed. I whould only get the vented one if u got a full aero kit or sort.

wow everyone has good response from vis.. my friend.. was a tthe track with his awesome s15 vis hood and the carbon seperated from the fiberglass.. and vis was like eh.. you suck no new hood for you.. so if you go with vis get hood pins.

yeah see theres always mixed reviews. I rodcked my VIS hood for a year and a half with just the factory latch no pins and never had a problem. track drift high speed highway runs and everything :) its now got two sparco shiny hood pins holding it down though. (cause the factory latch was removed)

why not get a spare hood and cut the skeleton away...i picked one up and im doin that rite now...lighter hood and still cheaper...IMO VIS is good stuff definately pushed the bar for aftermarket hoods VIS is readily considered grade A along with GTP(even thought fitment with GTP is still a problem, the weave is crisp) most others follow the old fiberglass wrapped in CF...long term tho i want to see how the clear coat will last...if i get a CF hood imma paint it over asap...

my clearcoats holding up good after two years. but the cars getting painted soon and that will include doing the hood. although CF hoods on black cars dont really stand out....

if you are going to paint over it . wouldnt it be better to get a fiberglass hood?
dont know if they make it for 240s though
