Im looking to upgrade my OEM coil pack and I have 2 interesting options.
1. Phase2Motortrend Coil pack
2. Splitfire Coil pack

The deal is Split fire price is twice as P2M
Will the difference is so noticeable and worth to pay double price, or stick with P2M or any other recommended option?

Thanks!

LS1 coil packs. take a bit more work but well worth the money, and replacements are found locally, huge advantage if one fails at a track day or something

Honestly, I dont really want to mess with the wiring and the fitment
Plug and play as much as possible

But thanks :)

for a little extra info, 1991 accord spark plug wires fit perfectly in the spark plug tubes

I have P2m coils and so does my friend. I did not notice a large change in power but he did but his coils were breaking up on the top of the RPM range.

P2m coils have a lifetime warranty (confirmed by p2m). The split fires would be better if you are planning to run high horse power 375 400 plus. But p2m is coming out with a booster also to go in conjunction with the coils for high HP.

My p2m coils work perfectly and I am at 300 wheel hp.

Ls2 coils. It's a proven upgrade and replacements are abound. Not to mention it's easy to tune for, even the stock ecu can have the dwell settings modified.

2 of my OEM coils cracked ,so im looking for better replacement

BTW - Will the power FC handle LS coils?

In for updates, possibly replacing my coils soon. All my tops are yellowish and cracked one of them.

For those that swapped to LS2 coils, where did you source all your parts from?

Currently stationed in Japan and Splitfires are everywhere here but if say one of them goes out, you can't just buy a replacement which blows.

I'm probably at 350whp @ 18-20psi if it matters. End goal is probably 420ish.

Decided to go with R8(red) coils
seems to be a great conversion option

Have you installed them yet? Hows the fitment?

Coils seem cheap! Tried finding installs on sr20's but really can't find the info.

Im planning to install them next month.

A friend of mine have them installed.. they fit pretty awesome!
If you still want to use the cover, you have to use small shims. VAG coils are bit higher than the SR OEM ones

Are the VAG coils secure? They don't have bolts and are secured with a rubber grommet around the coil, just curious how snug they fit.

Some other options I've come across are:
S15 coils
Z33 (G35/350Z) coils

I test fitted a Z33 coil, and it sits a little higher, but can still fit the cover. Just use a spacer to hold the coilpack bolt in place.

I have a set of S15 splitfires and think I found a source for replacement boots so that they will fit the S14 valve cover. The boots should work for stock S15 coilpacks also.

subscribing also.

my car breaks up at the higher rpms

i was going to true the electrical glue like the GTR guys do

but i'd much rather just put in something new.

i didn't know P2M is working on a booster

Don't fix it!
I'm still on stock coilpacks, not at 500hp yet though.

My stock coilpacks were causing my car to break up near red line. I already had to replace one. If you have to replace them all (since these are getting old anyway), might as well upgrade for a few bucks more. I just installed S15 Splitfires and my idle has smoothed out and the car pulls hard all the way to 7k rpm now.

Does anyone make sell pnp harnesses for the vag (R8) coil setup?

Feeling lazy and don't want to make one.

Btw, cracked my 2nd stock coil pack.
