Suspension problem question.

So yesterday I was getting new tires put on and when they were mounting the drivers side front wheel they pointed out the suspension on that side had massive play like if you pushed on the top of the tire towards engine it would easily bend that way. Never really noticed anything while drive beside moderate sway to the right and a few times a cracking/popping sound when turning to left. What would cause this?

Play in suspension arms bushing and/or steering outer end.

Lower arm bushing gone is the usual culprit.
Change the caster arm bushing while you are at it, they wear at a similar rate.
On both sides.

then get a new alignment done.
